This is the vid from earlier this year. Run out of ignition - hence the recent CDI.

The output shaft adapter was a bit of a PITA. Initially we figured out the shaft from one of the chasers had the same 3 bolt spider pattern - dimensions and all. So I ordered an aftermarket coupling designed for the camaro. Of course there are two options and despite being very clear in emails they sent the other size (from USA) and then refused to assist in exchange for the right size.

So it ended up with the Alloy spacer and solid 1350 Uni's.

Those first ones you mentioned weren't Sonnax by any chance?

    I'm looking at these ones..

Went out tot he drags tonight.

Had all sorts of traction and axle tramp issues.

    Came home with a best of 11.1 @ 141.4mph

I couldn't get it to 60" better than 2.0 basically.

It would either bog down or blow the tyres off it. I need more seat time and a lot of thought about how to set the 2 step. Ill post up much more detail and some vids tomorrow.

Time to fuck off the IRS and go live axle, and/or bigger rubber, if you want to get down the strip better

    141 is storming.

Definitely needs live axle, v8, carby and points ignition to go quicker though.

Plenty of quick cars with IRS and then they can actually still be used too. Just needs a bit of setup and practice.

From memory the Supra guys are into the 8s on IRS...

Yeah, granted, but surely ditching IRS would make job easier?

But why would you? The car is an allrounder not a dedicated drag car. Anything he does to improve the current set up will make the car more drivable in all situations. It will also be cheaper and easier than re-designing the rear end for a live axle set up.

Without knowing everything I would guess that with so much power going through that rear end the diff bushes and cradle bushes are well shagged giving has axle tramp. I think the is runs a whole cradle as a replacement making replacements harder to get. But machining up solid alloy bushings to fit would make a huge difference. Solid diff bushes is a must, but you might need to do the cradle as well to fix the tramp.

Im sure i read about this on Toymods but that was a while ago! What diff is it running? the IS200 one isnt exactly big... The 300 one was bigger (and is what they use in 86/BRZ)

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!

I'll be keeping the IRS. This has to stay a street car and all rounder and I think that near stock is the best option here.

It does have a "G" series diff and TRD LSD. It's an 8" crown wheel. For a long time I stuck with the 7.5 inch "F" series with good success. I only killed one set of gears in it and sold it as a going concern after many kms.

The diff and cradle bushes would be the only bushes / flexible joints in the whole car which have not been replaced as new in the last 10000kms.
Control arms are mostly factory rubber. It has Cusco upper arms and an assortment of Superpro urethane.

It seems like the axle tramp has only been a problem since I raised the car to near factory height. When it was slammed it didn't seem to do it as much or at all.

The rubber is pretty big already. 255/60/15 MT Drag Radials. It is certainly the most I can stuff under the car. Slicks could be the go but its kind of $$$ to get front runners that will go over the big brakes on the front.

So the best data from last night...

    1.895 60'
    107+ mph to half track
    7.4s to the 1/8
    11.103 at 400m
    141.34 mph 400m

Only the ET and full track Mph were on the same pass.

I guess now Ill check it over, change some fluids and go again. So many variables to figure out in the launch. I used to 60' better without the 2 step, but that won't help the complete lack of drive for the first 300'.
Ill try to post some vids later tonight.

I think technically you shouldn't have radial front tyres at that MPH anyway, so you might as well get the rear slicks to match!

The opposite applies, doesn't matter what tyres you use, however at that MPH you are required to match front and rears in construction ie all radials or all bias ply. he's running Drag Radials therefore require radial fronts

No andra changed the rules so you require drag front Tyres over 140.. But until it runs 10.5 he should be right

Oh, really? My bad, I stand corrected then.

How does drag radial work then? They running rag fronts?

I finally found the time to get this thing back together. After the night at Syd Dragway it turns out I hurt the diff and the tailshaft. So had it all sorted thanks to BPM Cromer and Adam at Hornsby Diffs it got a new micro polished gearset and a few other bits to try to keep it alive.

This last week it went back to Dale for a check over and he even found a few more powers hiding away. It goes without saying what a fuckn legend he is - thanks! Like it needed more power anyway...

Going to toymods dyno day tomorrow - with any luck it can repeat the performance there.

Enkei PF01 in 18x8 on the front. Back is either matching 18x9 or weld draglites in 15x8.

Yep - somehow Dale found about 20rwkw at the same boost. Hard to say what that feels like on the street - with the greasy roads all i could confirm is that it is 'aggressive'.
