Probably because she's married to my good mate.

Going wrecker yard scouring this arvo for a siren with a view to have it running tonight. Everything else is bolted on, filled with fluids and ready to roll.

Anyone got a trade plate I can borrow for a day to do some shake down runs later this week before RWC/rego?

Good work dude, not long now. Is it just two wires to the siren?

Yeah, two wires and an earth. I'd love for it to be simple enough to just plug them together and call it a day but I very much doubt that will be the case after doing exactly no research on ancient 90's mongoose car alarms.

Well after visiting four wreckers and Jaycar I came up empty handed. Decided it couldnt be that bad and cracked on with removing it.

It is. Fuck I hate wiring. Especially old alarm systems that have actually been installed well and designed to be hard to remove.

The guy has integrated the alarm up into the loom in such a way I'm certain he pulled the entire dash out to fit it.

Literally pulled most of the interior apart to find all the wires and connections.

Got it down to the last couple of wires to be cut and redone but my upside-down soldering skills leave a lot to be desired so I've roped Broadhurst in to sorting it out for me later this week.

Still have just over two weeks to reach my goal so not stressing too much just yet.

There are worse things than a truly well installed 80's car alarm-a badly installed 80's car alarm, for example, or perhaps an analogue recording device that plays back creepy female voices that are warped and distorted, seemingly at random, several years after you have started driving the car and have never heard her tell you the headlights are on or that the left rear tail light needs replacement...

(speaking of the OE 280ZXT record player, located on the left rear shock tower...)

Someone once asked me if they could use my mower. I said "sure, so long as it doesn't leave my yard"

Lots more than expected. Fuel pump way back at the pump ECU (yes, that's a thing), at least four other random circuits in the main body loom down near the drivers foot well plus the usual ignition circuits up under the dash and near the key barrel.

You're on, probs your fuck up anyway if not

In other news I have well and truly painted myself into a corner with having this thing dialed by committing to a driving weekend away in two weeks for the wife's birthday in the GC hinterland. Wish me luck. Or death. Whichever ends up being easier at the time.

In a strange twist, I'd be willing to bet "Sketchy Business" is indeed sketchy business.
