Congrats on the IPRA podium for the weekend. Great result and plenty of exposure.

The build and all the small touches combine to result in a great overall package - 11/10 WB!

I doubt anyone has ever questioned Jordan Cox's commitment, but that dive into the chicane at the 0:19s mark was HUGE!

Im starting to think Jordan Cox is the next Peter Brock the way he is such a giant killer.
Pity he will probably never get the oppertunity to prove it. The most talented driver I
have seen in a long, long time besides maybe Matt Campbell.
Also a great drive from yourself andysan really good to see a evo up the front but shit
it must piss you off to see these little shit boxes pass you down the straights just dosent
    seem right.

Jordan's car has similar power to what mine does and is 300kg lighter. On power to weight it should be quicker than half the field... Don't get me wrong he's driving the wheels off it and was far more committed around there than I was, but it's not exactly a 120kw underpowered car either.

I'm not really that worried. there were 2 turbo cars quicker than mine in a straight line, which they should be, they both make quite a bit more power.
I still had the pace on 95% of everything else there. In a car with one of the lowest budget engine/turbo combos in the field. One day I'll be able to afford one of those fancy borg warners!

A little shitbox with a full time mechanic on staff and a 30K longblock under the hood...He drives at 110% every time so im taking nothing away from that but that car is a very very serious piece of machinery

Im fully aware Jordans car is a bullet and lacks nothing,im sure everybody knows your only as good
as your budget in motorsport but I base my opinion on his car control, commitment and natural ability.
I just hope he is a tad nicer than his old man.

Gee 200kw+, its certainly possible to make power like but thats generally drag motor power and not a track set up, Ive watched his race looked at his times and if its making more than 160-170kws at the wheels Id be suprised. He real advatage is the weight 1000kg, rubber size and car set up.

upwards of 200kw is about normal for a decent u2l na ipra car.
I chatted to a driver about three years ago that held the smp lap record for unders at that time and 225 was the number thrown around.

I had an under 2L car with about 160kw, similar weight, tyre size and an ok setup and it was nowhere near that quick in a straight line.

He is doing 1.05s at Wakefield which can be done with around 150-160wks.

It can, but you also can't stay in front of turbo over 2L cars in a straight line with that power.

Chris Brown's car also does 1:05's at wakefield with a lot more grunt.

Andy San gearing also plays a huge role

Forget all your power hangups and just think Jordon Cox can drive a lot better than most
regardless of what he maybe in. Just watch him on youtube he will go inside, outside under
brakes or down the straight it dosent matter Cox makes it happen. Thats a driver.

Well you say that, and no doubt the kid can steer but he cant make a car pass another in a straight line without a better power to weight, physics just wont let that hppen.

And once again he can steer and is a great guy to boot but i cant say hes head and shoulders above a half a dozen of the best ipra drivers in australia tho.

Many IPRA drivers have achived awesome feats in cars that werent big $ cars its just that it wasnt on foxtel and youtube.

Waikefield in the wagon, Keys in his rx3, schoots in his rx7, the vereker boys in their rx7 and the list goes on.

Sure id rate Jordan up there with these guys but equal equiptment on the same day would yield similar results.

And then theres the other side. What makes someone a driver?

Being able to toss a car up the inside with the tyres on fire and still pulling it up? close racing without touching? Passing down the straight with more power? being able to drive anything from a cart to awd to fwd to rwd in a motorkhana or dirt or circuit? being consistant?

And just to set the record straight im not baging on Jordan he can certainly steer, just pointing out many other can stesr too. Even good old andy in his evo here, down 40rwkw on mpst of the turbo cars with a 300kg weight penlty to boot and still finishes 3rd outright at clipsal. Pretty reasonable steerer id say.

You guys just don't get it. I know of all those drivers and have watched all of them in various forms.
None of them show the same car control or natural ability this Cox guy does. I don't know him and have
never met him but he is very very good. I could also name a guy by the name of Jacky Yicks in there as
well with those good drivers but he is not in Cox league.
Its only because I mentioned this nobody opens their eyes and can see this. If that Nelson dude mentioned
it everybody would go oyeh Cox is the man.

Probably need to move the discussion re Jordan to a new thread ?

FWIW - I don't think it has anywhere near the numbers quoted in this thread. The same guys who screwed together my APRA spec Pulsar also built the IP Civic that is Coxy's main competitor in NSW Unders. And it has nowhere near 200kw at the wheels...

Consider also that APRA is now a pretty seriously contested class with numerous State and National title holders from both circuit racing and karting running at the pointy end. Jordy jumped into a mates Pulsar that he hadn't ever driven before and won 3 from 3. That's pretty decent in such a tightly controlled series. The next round he was second behind Jaie Robson who is now braining them in Aussie Race Cars.

Kid can steer. And humble as fuck, really nice guy...

Thats cool and no one is saying he isnt an awesome steerer (in fact you would be mad to say hes anything but) but ive raced with all the drivers ive mentioned and i can tell you that on the right day with the same machinery you would be comparing lap times by tenths and hundreds, not seconds.
And also i give no fucks who you are, if nelson dude said it id be saying the same to him.

Cheers Al, should read properly I guess.

So nowhere near 200kw at the wheels...

So if we take around a 15% power loss from crank to wheels we end up with about 164kw.

Funnily enough...200kw is right between 260-285hp... Everyone just went off on a tangent incorrectly assuming that was at the wheels...

That was a great drive Andy.
