i was thinking a linisher would work then hand lapping but probably wont retain the required precision (parallelism)

We have made a few of these plates for a quick change pallet, which our customer then mounts their own jigs to.

The finished plates and jigs are all being used to feed this big bastard which is ex-holden I believe. They are setting up to be running 24/7 lights out.

Check out their FB page here https://www.facebook.com/KennewellCNC/ Kennewell CNC, lots of vids and pics up as they have been going through the motions getting it running the past few months. they have some amazing gear for a joint in murray bridge, and seem to have new machines/cool shit arriving every other day.

Thatís awesome. I think I saw some videos from one of their guys on the titans of cnc page. Pushing some carbide pretty quick in steel.

I just recently figured out how to run the parts gripper and parts catcher on the lathe. I had tried previously with no success but got it this time round. Ran some parts for another mob in town. Just put a piece of bar in the jaws and let it do itís thing. Itís peanuts compared to robot pallet loaders but still a small win.

I knocked these out today. Iím repairing a stripped axle and the guy said itís a common thing so changed the thread pitch. Couldnít get any off the shelf nuts this size and type so had to custom make some. First time Iíve done internal threading. I only have external thread mics so made a male threaded stub to check the female threads.

Next part of the job is to mount up the axle in the mill and thread mill a new thread to match these nuts. Just waiting on the thread mill to arrive.

    Ah fuck. No good. Insurance?

We laser cut acrylic daily with no issues so not sure what happened this time (post edited above). It has an air blower to prevent the material igniting and extraction fans out of the building for the smell.

Insurance claims assessor was there late this afternoon though I wasn't. They've emailed me 20 questions so at least I have time to consider responses rather than being put on the spot. There's a lot of water ingress into my offices from the firies and the water main that burst from the heat.

It's a fair fuck around but hopefully I end up with a new router and laser out of it all, I'll upgrade to higher spec models while I'm at it.

    Bummer about the fire.

Some photos of something I was working on this week. Adjustable cylinder clevises. We were having some trouble getting the cylinder length and geometry correct to run the side skids flat on the ground with the variation of tyre dia, tyre pressure and wear etc all affecting it so decided to thread the shafts and make an adjustable clevis. 2 lathe ops and a milling op in a chuck on a rotary table.

    Some more random bits:
We have had some issues with the lock nuts and washer where by the tag on the washer gets ripped off and the nut comes loose so I designed up some alternate designs and have been turning them out.

We have the pair of small lathes arrive and been connected up. Unfortunately the 15M had spindle issues so itís been removed for rebuild.

Aint nobody got time for that. Running the whole business now, CNC didnt give enough down time to deal with the fucking spastic amount of quoting, phone calls etc etc that comes through at times.
