Now I shouldn’t be surprised, as my brother-in-law is a service manager at a dealership, and is incentivised by what he can upsell, so it’s about gauging the customer and what you can get away with when you call them in the middle of the day.

Wife got her car serviced by Ford today.
The service manager rang her up at lunchtime:
“You’ve got a screw in your tyre. It’s jammed into the sidewall so it can’t be repaired. You need a new tyre. We need to order the tyre in, so you’ll have to leave the car here overnight”.

She told them she needs the car, so asked them to put the spare on, and she’ll bring it in when they get the right tyre in.

    Thanks for the honesty guys.

I get it that she is female and it’s a work vehicle, but that doesn’t give you license to lie if you can get away with it.

    Yeah, that's taking the piss.

A decent service manager will sort it out.

Some pricks have no shame. I would be confronting them and asking "Who here knows a tread face from a sidewall?. Clearly not you!"

I wouldn't be surprised if it's barely even in the tread block, have picked up a heap of >10mm screws in the tread blocks of the work van. The 40mm long roofing screw was a bit of a cunt though.

Eh, I've been at a place for the last two weeks where shit like that is pretty normal (machinery)
Things just roll around to the workshop with blown coolant hoses, zero coolant, temp gauge off the charts, blown hydraulic hoses with a 80L trail of oil behind it, numerous engines only starting on brake cleaner, engines that use 15L of oil a day - top up when the alarm comes on, cunts driving around knowing the water pump belt has broken, engines that have run on dust for months and are fucked etc. They have a water/fire truck that's from the 1970's that is critical if there is a fire, thing is just pouring coolant out of the radiator to the tune of 1L/10m.

Its pretty common for people to not give a fuck.

Is “vehicle is being left with us, to look at when time permits” code for:
Customer thinks we are going to do his job with next to no labour charge, because he is being gracious enough to allow us to slot it in around other more priority jobs ... even though he will ring at 2:00pm Friday demanding he have his car finished as he needs it for the weekend. “But you’ve had it since yesterday!”

Ha yeah, it's like when the car's been in for a whole week, that the technician has been working on it the whole time.

Its pretty common for people to not give a fuck.

Or, people see that something is wrong and tell the higher ups, who because of fucking bean counters "oh lets stretch that out to the next service". So things get neglected and in the end a culture of "well if upstairs don't give a fuck, I don't give a fuck" begins.

Had a backup diesel generator at last work. Apparently maintenance director/bean counter/cocksucker wouldn't spend money on it "it was working last time we checked it, no it doesn't need a service".
So no one checked it or started it in years.
    Power went out.
Starter starts up on the generator. You could hear the thing wearing itself out trying to start.
No one had been into the room where the generator was, so no one had noticed that the diesel tank had sprung a leak and dumped diesel everywhere.
No power, dead generator, worn out starter and a diesel spill.
Maintenance dickhead still probably got his yearly bonus for "decreasing expenses while leveraging synergies".

My guess would be they stopped too far from the ticket machine, leaned over and hit the throttle and literally drove the thing up the wall.

Can't think of any other way you'd do that!

Nah, its up the inside. You can see the centre concrete barrier is broken and they launched it up the post for the out barrier. Just rode up on the right front.
