The little SR that could, turns out couldnt. Spun bearing on number 1 2 nights ago. Pics to come later. Its a solid effort. Suprised we didnt put a rod out.

Not sure as to why as yet. Other 3 cylinders look ok, but i havent got the head off and checked the bores as yet.

How was the oil going with the meth? Seen it before where oil gets milked up, car sits and the watery shit settles to the bottom and the oil pump pickup sucks it in to lubricate the engine instead of oil

We thought that, but it looked ok. Ive taken a sample and will put it through the oil lab at work. It runs on brad penn straight 60, which is a alcohol safe oil. Does anyone know the oiling priorities on a SR? We never lost oil pressure, had a few ideas of things to check (one of which is if the piston grabbed the bore on 1).

What do the others look like? What sort of clearance was it running?

When you get the head off check all your deck heights, see if any rods are bent.

Some of those meth oils are different. Some try to keep the contaminants (water/fuel) in suspension so it doesn't end up sucking straight shit, whereas others seem to want to lock the shit out of the oil so you can cook it/drain it out and your oil is still good. It's worth reading up on what you've got

Other 3 were ok. Everything was around the 3 thou mark on clearances according to the builder. Rods have a almost unnoticeable bend in them. The SR isnt worth fixing, for what the plan is now, so ill pull the good parts out and sell them off. Crank and rods are pretty ordinary. Block, head, accessories are all good.

Nek Minute. Was going to keep it quiet but this is PF.

Will do, if it all goes as one, all you would need is a rotating assembly to put it all back together.

Its a borgy S475. Our green vn racecar has a s480 on it and runs 8.60's on a stock L98. So thats the aim, ill be forging this motor straight up. Aim is 600-700 at the wheels. One turbo should be sufficient amd simple to setup. Just going to have to make some headers, exhaust can go up and out the bonnet again.

A mate has a s480 with a slightly damaged front wheel. Any interest to you? Think he wants $400-500 for it

We are still chipping away slowly at it!

We have most of the bits for the motor here:
    SRP/JE pistons
    Scat rods
    ARP everything
    Comp Cams cam
    Manley springs etc
    Rollmaster double chain
    new oil pump

Just need a balancer and flex plate/converter. Anyone know what the ATI balancer is with no belt provision on it? want it as small as possible.

Still going, got the injection and ignition looms made for it. Still need to work out the merge into the turbo, and where the gate is going to live, its pretty tight in there now with it all in.

Engine came back from machines, has been assembled, and installed into the car.

    - Powerglide copped some new gears and a new set of top gear clutches while we had it all apart and is now back in the car. Convertor rocked up and was put in as well.

    - Tail shaft is off being shortened, and should have it back tomorrow.

Then its all wiring and plumbing gayness, ive got half a haltech map built for it, so it should start with any luck.

We did some stuff today, made some noise, had people tell us they could hear us on the other side of the industrial area.

I have a boost control issue, my minimums are way too high and i want to be able to get them down abit, will probably have to put a second gate in, or move the 50mm to the housing or something like that.

    Tomorrows problem.

Ive entered Grudge Kings on the 27th, so trying to cross off all the little things. We put a bigger wastegate on it, hopefully it controls boost at a lower level than we were. I am trying to reduce the amount of power it makes so I can work up to it, we dont know what the car is going to do until we start racing it.

We were having some fuel pressure issues, i have replaced the pump and gone to a -12 pressure side line, hopefully it sorts it out.
