still think a 5m-ge or 6m-ge is better suited...

I like the idea (and look) of a 6M but too much effort I reckon....whatever I found would need a rebuild for starters ....and too sporty for the auto.

This one has to net me a profit so whatever I do has to be done with budget and investment recovered in mind.

So itís been a while since I touched the MX83....I entered this 800m thing at Gunnedah to help motivation. The wiring fuckery turned out to be embarrassingly simple but still took a workshop a day so I donít feel too bad....other than about the $1300 bill that came back with a car essentially the same as when it left 😢 thatís the curse of this car it seems so moving right along.

I had to add the idler pulley back in to tame belt slip...which meant finding an 8 rib width pulley and I wanted ridged edges....who doesnít want that right ended up having to customise one to suit but came up a treat so fingers crossed it grips like a 14 year old.

Next job was thermal wrapping the fuel lines as they run pretty close to the new exhaust (which is already wrapped). Glad I did as the E85 curse has struck and 4m of braided line is totally fucked and weeping everywhere. The thing would have torched itself on the dyno. The line came with a bunch of name brand fittings so I stupidly assumed it was good gear...more like China bay anyways, a save I guess. I hope to start the Kent of a thing next weekend and touch the tune up shortly after....I have no expectations, this car takes great pleasure in eating my soul 🙄

Are you going to run the lines a different way this time? Maybe inside the cabin or something like a Subaru? (Sounds bad considering what you have is leaking... but no reason it can't be done properly and would get you away from a lot of your heat?)

I would also go with a 200series teflon inner style braided line for the #E85LYF

    https://shop.rocketindustries.com.au...M#.W2BTeIF_WEc

And a 570series full flow fittings

    https://shop.rocketindustries.com.au...S#.W2BVj4F_WEc

Few examples for you, sorry I forgot to txt you back the other day :/

im running speedflow and earls teflon lined stuff for fuel line, no dramas. but then i am also still using the factory fuel hose to connect from the tank to the filter and it has no dramas with e85 either...

Yeah a few steps forward but itís not had the first start yet. Running the 200 series line and then insulating the lot took much longer than expected. Iíll see if I can rubic cube the new starter in tomorrow and Iím nearly there 😊

And the fight continues....new high torque starter was 10mm or so larger which was just enough that the cunt wouldnít fit....despite pulling half that side of the bay apart 😡 not even the grinder helped. Ended up conceding defeat and racing down to repco to buy a stock one 🙄

Means I have a brand new, slightly lighter, hi torque starter going cheap 😁
