    Nah it's pretty stupid LOL

IDK what toyota were thinking, but it must have been some hardware limitation with the ECU/microcontroller to not be able to do all those functions internally so they rely on additional senders and switches.

It's true, I never have quite felt the exhilaration of the ride laterally as the thing scuttle shakes it's way over even the most polished marble.

At least everyone gets to see me in a new light too.

    Emphasis on running?

MA70/71s were a bit of a hero car in the US I think but not so much here.

Hell yeah. Running ones would be rare as rocking horse poo.

Depends on your age I reckon.

I was a teenager when these came out and before the gtr and nsx arrived (which imo heralded the new age of fast cars at non-supercar prices) so pre 1989....

These were right up there in Australia.

    Here's why I believe:

    In 1987 say, the non Aussie v8 hero cars were;

Rx7 turbo I and then II
    Supra Turbo
    Porsche 944 Turbo
Porsche 930 Turbo (from '77 still!)
    Merc sl500
Any Ferrari / lambo you ever saw

Others which were there if you were a car kid but lucky if you ever saw

    Lotus esprit
    E30 M3
    Porsche 944 cab

I may have missed one or two but what in that list was quicker in a straight line than the supra turbo? Not much. I'd never even driven one until I bought this. (I had an n/a when I was young).

I'm 38 fwiw. Just my musings. Haha

I had a mint legit virgin gasket 7MGTE head (and motor, just in bits) and it took fucking eons to sell though when it did I got the impression off the seller good parts for these things are rare on the ground. The stock turbo sold within 30 seconds too for some reason and a heap of people were keen on it, might of been a group A one but fucking whatever lol

Should of kept it all and left it in a box, that was a genuine 40,000km stacked MA70 halfcut engine.

Still got a few bits left, think I have an alternator, ignitor, ECU and a few other odds and ends.
Threw away all the sumps and oil pumps, tossed the R154 M series bellhousing, threw away all the stock intercooler and piping.

So Mr Broadhurst has made this much more stress free when this happens.

It also has an annoying alarm in case I'm not smoking at the time.

It came out pretty good. A lot of the slight faded spots came good. Most surface scratches disappeared and some scuff marks from other cars eventually came off too.

Didn't touch interior as the dash is going to be repaired anyway.
Really straight for an older car.

    The elusive roof for Jason..

    - boot floor sealed / repainted
    - wheels pulled and reconditioned
    - headstuds have arrived
    - exhaust leak at muffler - probably find a suitable exhaust
    - investigate egr removal

Jezza, it's transformed from behind the wheel, totally different car. Once it's perfect, I'll drop you a pm to take the previous owner for a drive.

    Just a small update.

The wipers were looking pretty daggy so pulled them off and sanded then hit them with a black matte all in one rattle can.
