Has anyone done Kakadu and Litchfield national parks? What sort of time frame would you allow to see them?

Depends on how thorough you want to be, I did three days in Kakadu and one day in Litchfield. Prob could have used another day in Kakadu but at the same time don't really feel like I missed out on much. There are definitely some must see and do stuff in there, amazing place.

Litchfield in 1 day is ok. I used to duck down from Darwin for a swim regularly.
Although sitting on 250 in the open zone gets you there pretty quick.
Best part about Litchfield is how close all the falls/swimming holes are.
Make sure u dont skip Florence falls.

Anyone got any tips for camping spots and things to see inland from Coffs? Places like wedding bells state forest, Guy Fawkes national park, Dalmorton etc?

Thinking of doing a few days exploring over the Easter long weekend, before doing a longer trip later in the year.

Npws website bloke, best info. Also dorrigo parks are helpful on road conditions. Dalmorton to chaelundi is good drive in the middle of nowhere, as is old Grafton rd. Really depends on what you like doing. Loads of nice river camps if you want to kayak fish etc. Most of the 4wding isnít really its just gravel roads with water bars, sure there are tracks but usually just logging snig tracks, not destination 4wding if you know what I mean.

If your just planning for future trips just do a loop starting at coramba- dorrigo/or bostobrick- nymboida- old Grafton rd-dalmorton-chaelundi-return waterfall way. Thatíll give you a good feel for the area

Cheers guys. No hardcore offroading here, in a lightly modded Prado. River camps are definitely preferred. Will check out those loops no1200

Im sure this has been asked before but cant fucking find it. Just how bad are RD28 and ZD30 GU's? I dont care how slow or gutless they are [seriously, drive a land rover discovery youll understand], just dont want an endless money pit. Dont here much from the RD28 apart from its slow, ZD30s you either get people claiming itll explode because you looked at it wrong or people that swear black and blue they arent that bad..

Contemplating throwing the towel in on the Disco and just getting something thats already going. I really need to stop buying shit that needs work

Even if the RD was ~5k cheaper and had a fresh engine/pump with reciepts? Trying to get a feel for whats out there - with house renos spiralling out of control and needing a daily NOW, putting time into getting the Disco done is going to kill me as its time better spent sorting the house out. Gemini getting written off has put a spanner in everything.

    Get another running Disco.
Seriously, I've owned a D2 and would go there again before another Nissan.

Sold my ZD30 ute with a suspected BHG.
I bought it off a diesel fitter. It had a brand new head, turbo and alternator on it!
Lots of minis & mokes including a G13b powered Sports Sedan, a couple of Swift Gtis, a Goggomobil, Porsche 928S, Polo Gti, BMW 540i, a WRX and a few others.

Yes they are that junk. They were grenading before zd30 grenade memes were a thing.

That all said, why not a tb 45 or 48?

D2s are on the list. Bit more complicated than id like and finding a manual isnt easy but i do like them in general.

To be honest, the fuel bill would bankrupt me and after the nightmares of finding LPG interstate i dont want to go near another dual-fuel car. Neighbours son bought one and they are fucking dirt cheap and dont seem to suffer from aids like the other ones do, i just dont think i could deal with the fuel consumption.

Looking like a 4JJ1 Rodeo/Dmax is the smartest bet. I just cant see how or where im going to find time to fix my Disco on top of everything im already doing and the concept of paying someone to do everything to it means itll pretty quickly get uneconomical. I fucking hate abandoning cars mid project...pretty much signs its death warrant.

Will a diesel Paj fit the bill? Good value for money, good on fuel, good cargo space and 7 seats

For every horror story there are 100 that are still trucking along fine after hundreds of thousands of kilometres.

They sure do. Lol. I'd love a disco 4 but the horror stories keep me away.

Haha tbh the disco 4 imo is far more reliable than any than the disco 1,2 or 3.

True. Probably why its never good to ask a mechanic for an opinion on a car - need to remember they see the worst of everything. If you listen to everything, youd never buy anything because they are all buckets and have problems lol

LOL also true. God the stupid things suck you in.

Went drove an RD28 out of curiousity [the one with the apparent reciepts for rebuild which were hand written notes on paper...errr..]. Holy shit are they fucking slow. I dont mean expect it to go like a normal car slow, i mean fucking slow. The cunt wont pull/accelerate in 2nd gear from a 15kmh roll, what the actual fuck? Even the WRX does it and that cunt is laggy as. Also surprised to see that these things do rust, id hate to see how bad one thats been in mud often goes.

Ended up finding/buying a 4JG2 powered Jackaroo. Had a Jackaroo before so knew what to expect driving-wise, also had a 4JG2-powered MU which i really liked/owned for a few yrs so knew what to expect there.
