Yes, but at Symmons Plains last year, the race was cancelled, no points awarded, but it still counts as a "win" for SVG. What am I missing about the two events that is different?

    Edit: source - https://www.supercars.com/news/champ...e-in-tasmania/

“The 50-lap race ended under safety car with only one lap completed following the multi-car accident which happened on the second lap of the race.

“While no Championship points will be awarded, Shane van Gisbergen’s victory will be recorded as a race win, and the race results stand.

They could have raced stadium trucks in the rain.

Should have got the Super utes out. Those shitboxes would be too slow to even aquaplane in the rain.

Perhaps the fact that they got the re-started and declared that they finished the "race" (based on time, not laps) - even if under safety car, so they have a "winner" - but same situation of no points ??
That's the only major difference I can see between the two scenarios ??

In the same way - If the Safety car kept them going around on the GC, they would have reached the time cut off, so race is declared as finished, but may or may not have done the minimum laps to give the points...
Or, the other scenario, if they had completed the 50% on the GC before the rain stopped them - then they can declare the race, and winner, and points because it met the race requirements... ??

    Tasmania finished,
    Gold Coast was declared

IDK, just how I read that situation

They should have just run them around behind the safety car on wets, maybe let em drop a few skids for entertainment value! At least the pundits would still have something to look at, both at the track and on TV. For sponsors they could have done some close up on each car and a little back story on the sponsors.

Just ending the race like that was just dumb!

Not sure the teams are keen to smash the engines and transaxles up just to spin their wheels in the wet.

They don't have to redline them lol. I'm sure Giz could have held a 2000rpm slide most of the way around the circuit

Point is they could have done something to at least continue something to look at for the fans. Supercars isn't just motorsport, it's a business, it's local and TV entertainment, it's sponsor commitments, TV scheduling, etc, etc.

....sounds super entertaining. I'd just love to sit in pissing rain watching cars trundle by at 30-40kmh in the wet doing no racing whatsoever.

I'm still pissed about yesterday's race. So much potential for race of the season, just too much rain. It's too bad Moron Marquez was winning yet another Dicksucking GP championship on the other channel at the same time.

Not sure how much interest there would be in “Jon Voight Day”.

Anyway.... So what the with the Gold Coast race being tamed down from previous years. Last time I was up there in person, almost every balcony had tarts flashing tits and even quite a a few flashing the gash. Ingall made a point about how much tamer it is these days.

What gives, Gold Coast not living up to Gold Coast hype?

At least you would get plenty of opportunities to get some slow pans of every car.... lol

I went in 2008 and then again last year. Hardly any difference. I think by 2008 it had already lost a lot of its rowdiness. Hardly saw any tits at all!

I was there in 2006 or 7, funniest thing I saw was opening the blinds and walking out onto the balcony of 20 storey something building and some dude plowing a chick on the sofa of building next door.
