Re the fuel, yeah fucking stupid but what do you do?? not follow the rule book?? then lucas dumbrell would rolled up to the race director and protested!!

PRA have been there from the start with supashock have they not? DJR makes sense as tie up with PRA, interesting that HRT has joined them as above they seemed to want anything but what 888 have.
    Volvo are still on Ohlins.

Word was, that Ohlins aftersales support to this end of the world at motorsport level was non-existant. GRM sought some help through the Ohlins backdoor, via Volvo's relationship with them, as an OEM supplier.

Correct. Penkse aren't on the approved list... yet.

Supashocks aren't approved for DVS, either.

The rules were the same for everyone, other teams like Lowndes Mcloughlin were bringing them in for stops instead of leaving them out like coulthard did, why he was whinging I don't know, it wasn't like they hadn't been given a rulebook?
Rain always becomes a great equaliser and shuffles the field up, some because of luck when they change tyres etc, some good strategy.
Well done to LDM I reckon, they read it best and were quick enough and were rewarded.

Yeah, the whole fuel situation seemed pretty silly. If you're going to call the race early, how can you expect people to put all the fuel in?

Not knowing whether the race had officially started, referring blatant driver indiscretions to post race whilst another blatant indiscretion (SVG) was deemed to be okay on the spot and the whole fuel issue was just a massive Lol@V8SC's.

The ring leaders in the confusion are the fucking muppets in the com box, they confused everyone the most... The race went full "distance" it was 78laps or a time certain finish + 1 lap, they race hit that time so was complete thus you needed to of taken on 140l.. Stupid rule due to nissian and merc and will be seen again at all supersprint event, Darwin, Townsville and Sydney 500. It also seems they are now going to get a 1m20s penalty for no taking on the 140l....

    ------

    Relevant rules section: https://d3spxwpngnho1k.cloudfront.ne...ualDivD-V1.pdf

I think the problem goes back to rules that are poorly written allowing different interpretations. After reading the rules for both normal and safety car starts, I think one issue is that the race was originally intended to start under normal conditions, and was switched to a safety car start after the completion of the formation lap. I can't see that situation covered by the rules ... and I could be wrong.

Firstly, under 9.1.10 or 9.2.9 (normal start), 25 out of 26 cars were correctly positioned to be considered under starter's orders - 21 on the grid and 4 at pit exit. This is 3-5 seconds before the actual race start.

Under normal conditions, the race is considered started when the red lights go out (9.1.11 or 9.2.10).

Cars starting at pit exit may start the race only on the direction of an Official, and after the rest of the field has passed the Pit Lane exit (9.1.14 or 9.2.13)

Surely this is what happened today, except under a safety car start.

However, under a safety car start, when said red lights go out, the cars are said to be under starters orders (9.4.3), so there is the start of the muddle.

As stated above, we then have the 9.4.7 and 9.4.7.1 rules. One literal interpretation of those 2 rules is that the 4 cars at pit exit prior to the safety car leaving on lap 1 is that those 4 cars should not have been under starter's orders until lap 6 ... ridiculous! And also not in keeping with the general intent of the starting from pit exit rules above.

Communication around this yesterday was shithouse. Rain can make for great racing but V8SC race control somehow managed to completely rape the viewing experience, and evidently, the experience for the race teams as well.

At least the V8's did more laps than the 1991 F1 ...stopped after only 14 laps due to nil visibility...

Stooge, can you confirm the rule regarding pit window? Doesn't it normally not open until lap 3 or 4 or is that only sprint rounds? It was mentioned at the beginning of Saturdays 2 x 150km races. If it should have applied on Sunday also, then wouldn't Frosty and the other cars that pitted for fuel on lap 0 and 1 be in breach if pitting before the window was open?

I think that was only applicable in the Saturday sprint races.

Some good racing this weekend in Tasmania. Good to see Tekno grab another win after SVG went off on someone else's oil, a bit ironic.

Thought the racing yesterday and today was excellent. The longer Saturday run is a considerable improvement over the twin 60km races, the field is just too close on pace for anything to happen in the really short races.

I didn't watch any of the supports, but loosely followed on Natsoft. Thin fields in categories that don't really interest me, but it does make me wonder about what it's like to be a competitor on a local V8 support (as in, not a national category). When the foxtel deal was announced with full coverage of all the support racing, I thought that every man and his dog would have been trying to get on the card. But it turns out that the coverage of those races has been pretty ordinary, showing the first 3 cars or so almost exclusively and perhaps entry costs are too high to make the track time good value? (I'm talking about races like the IPRA supports at EC and Hidden Valley, the combined sports category that was at QR and Symmons Plains last year).

The only full supports that interest me are at the premier events.
    Adelaide - Beginning of season
    Bathurst - No expo needed
Gold Coast - Near enough end of season

I think the supports are the most interesting but Tassies had nothing.
The support races at Shannon Nationas were excellent.
I like all racing just not v8 supercars.

Yeah agree, i prefer the supports to the main V8SC's. Carerra Cup, AGT, aussie race cars are all great categories to watch.

The SportGTs they had last year at Tassie were good to watch too. This year the Utes and HQs were the support highlights yawn... At least the V8 races were good viewing, hating being SVG hitting that oil lol.

Was something like $50 bucks for a weekend pass so not like they were charging top dollar for the punters but was a little lacking for the tv crowds.

Agree with above tho some good racing in the v8s, hopefully the other sprint rounds end up the same..

Missed the last ten laps (except the last one). So SVG hit some oil? Is that why he wasn't on the podium?

Slightly OT. Not sure if anybody else is following Scott McLaughlans run in the STCC this weekend. Qualified P2 and P4 and came P2 in the first race breaking the lap record catching his former V8 team mate Dahlgren. 2nd race on at 23:50 AEST tonight. Very small field of cars in the series (10) or maybe just this round and crazy hairpin at end of an airport runway http://www.svtplay.se/video/7493444/...cc-1-maj-12-30

I watched the first race and that was a good comeback from McLaughlin after a pretty poor start. Was up to second in the second race but then got taken out by a banzai inside braking dive that was never gonna work. Didn't Maldanado was doing touring cars? 😀. I think the team would've told him to stay second regardless as to not upset Goransens championship points haul.
