Simple fact is a single dual circuit 7/8 bore boosterless Master cylinder with a wilwood bias valve works perfect and costs stuff all.

Hey Steve. Ash mentioned that he ran with unboosted master in the S14. Is 7/8 big enough, considering I have changed to the Brembo's up front with the Skyline 2 spots at the rear?

    Cost more but spend once.
I have looked into the Samsona's..... not sure it fits in with the small/modest budget I am working with.

I would say 7/8 would be too small. I had a 15/16 on my old Zed with the Wilwoods and euro 2 spots and it was marginal on volume for fluid.

1" fixed the problem for me and wasn't too hard a pedal to use.

7/8 was perfect for the S14 with 6 piston Wilwood front and 4 piston wilwood rear

    Brembo's bolted up

Bit of progress..... Got the calliper adapters and bolted them up. I knew there would be a little bit of work still to get them on, some machining to the callipers is required to get the correct clearance to make it all fit. Anyways, I thought I would see how close we are, and this is the result.

One small problem, is the top Calliper bolt is in-line with the lower strut bolt, and there is not enough room for both. Luckily, there is plenty of meat on the adapter so, we can recess the calliper bolt and everything should be fine.

    Sound Deadener Progress

Tackled the rear sound deadener today and got it finished. Still need to tackle the seam sealer, but need a different wire wheel for that.
The area under the front seats is also half finished. The passenger side footwell is half stripped, and the drivers side footwell is yet to be started.
So far, the total weight of the sound deadener that has been removed is 7kg's. The stuff to still come is quite thick also, so I'm expecting at least 10kg's once it's all out.
    The battle continues.

    Brakes are bolted up

It's always a good day when you bring home new bits that just bolt straight up the way you planned it!

The front brakes now consist of....

    Modified Evo 9 Calipers
    Modified WRX Sti Rotors (326mm)
    Custom Dog Bones

All this so we could fit the Enkei RPf1's - I hope they fit!

Rear brakes were easier - Stock R33 Skyline GTS-T twin pistons with slotted rotors.

Nice work, glad the brakes worked out as you planned.

I feel your pain with the sound deadening, I had my S14 on a rotisserie to get the deadening off the outside as well. Lots of wheels and grinding, I'm sure the neighbours loved three or four weekends I was on the grinder. Not sure how much weight I got out but there was plenty of dust. The underbody deadener was like bog.

Looking good and looking forward to seeing more progress.

Cheers mate, Had another win late this afternoon too..... Borrowed an Enkei RPF1 17x9 +22 to trial fit.....and it cleared the calipers. The wheels wont clear the the same set-up using the EVO 9 Rotor, but the STi rotor has an extra 10mm of offset which is all we needed.

Pics of wheel on to follow......

    The Wheels FIT!

All the effort has been worth it. The whole reason for this set-up was to run the Enkei RPF1 wheel sin 17x9. They will not fit with the EVO9 Caliper & rotor combo because the inner barrel of the rim has a step down toward the spokes. By using the STi rotor, the offset of the rotor is pushed back about 10mm which was just enough to clear the rims. Of course that meant everything had to be fabricated & modified instead of simply ordering a set of dogbones and bolting it all together. End result is we can run the Enkei's which are significantly lighter than other available options.

    Final Specs :
Evo 9 Brembo Caliper (Modified - some grinding of calliper to clear dog bones)
WRX STi 326mm Rotor (Modified - Centre hole bored out) (will eventually move to a 2 piece floating rotor)
    Custom made Dog bones

    Looks good.

I won't have that problem with mine, running 18x9's and only Z32 alloy calipers and standard rotors on the front.

My only limitation for 2B prodsports is a total of 40" of wheel width for the car under 1200kg.

So it was your car Brad was doing the dogbones up for. He does some nice work.

I'll hopefully have my car up there with the street car guys towards the end of the season. If I see you up there I'll come say g'day.

He's going to have to quit work soon and go into business full time.

I want to get him to make up carbon doors, bootlid, bonnet, brake hats etc etc etc...

    Looking really good.

We used a floor mount pedal box in the s13 rally car - we found that it was basically required once the cage and the seat was in. The driving position was further back than intended!

I'm using an rb25 box with a cut & shut bellhousing - another option to consider. Gear linkage needed some invention to get right.

We got the weight down to around 1150 with the cage. There isn't much weight in the sound deadener..

    Thanks mate,

Would prefer to go floor mount pedal box, but just waiting to see what happens with the rules this year. I do have a balance bar set-up which can be mounted in place of the booster, and runs dual masters. I'm just not sure if this will work with the factory pedal ratio. So for now, I'll just stick a bigger master to the booster and give the new brakes a run to test them out a bit.

Gearbox options give me a headache. I really would like to retain a six speed box, but I know the S15 one is not going to cope with the torque once we build the engine to IP spec. Unfortunately, I can't see me having the budget to run a Hollinger or Samsona's box, so I will do some more research on the Nissan C009 350z/370z box conversion. Just need to look at how much weight that conversion will add. There are a ton things you can look at for saving weight, and the more you look the more things you find. The Nopics thinks I'm obsessed because I keep taking the bathroom scales out to the garage to weigh parts. The sound deadener will be more than 10kg's once it's finished.

Weight is my main concern with the car, so working on getting as much out as possible (plus it's cheap to rip it out). I know of two S-Chassis IPRA cars that are pretty light....
    S14 - 1,040kg Plus Driver
    S13 - 1,144kg inc driver
Both cars caged & ready to race....

If I can get mine down to sub 1200kg inc driver, I'll be happy, so aiming for sub 1,100kg caged.

One of the benefits of the new front brake set up was the weight, The new set-up is actually slightly lighter than the stock set-up, even though the Calliper is much larger and the rotor is 46mm bigger also.

I hear you Steve, but if I had the money to buy one of those boxes, I could just about put a pool in for the kids - and they come first ;-)

Out of interest, I assume the Samsonas around $15k?

Yeah, ok. Is that the Universal RWD H pattern?
I guess by the time you add in a new clutch, new tailshaft, and fitting the box to the engine & car it will be pretty close the $15k.

Certainly not an option for me at this stage - Budget racer!

Loving this build. Having had 2 s-chassis previously, always had a real soft spot for them.

Great work on the brake setup and mixing components to find an outstanding bang for buck outcome.

I've got a Tilton overmount pedal box in my R32, it's tight but fits well. I'm running Brembo F50s with 3/4 and 5/8 masters. I bought when the dollar was a bit better but it wasn't much dearer and a Wilwood unit, and it's a much nicer bit of gear.
I'll grab a picture if you are interested

That would be great mate. I'm kind of waiting for the rule to change (i'm in no hurry) so we can put a floor mount in. I'm building the car on a budget and just want to get out there and run around and race whomever is near me. Not interested in $10 plastic trophies. Thanks for the tips on MC sizes, I have been pondering that. What rears are you running?
