    'Tourqe Lock' borg warner centres

    http://www.tuffcarparts.com/index.ph...roduct_id=1580

Does anyone here have any experience with these centres?

Quite a lot cheaper than the kaaz/eaton/harrop products.. and obviously you get what you pay for but thought I would ask the question to see if anyone here is using one/has used one and how they performed.

    Cheers

Looks like a TrueTrac style diff. We have one in the race car, works fine, don't even know it is there at normal speed.

Was super close to getting one of these on sale 500-550 then got freebie lsd centre

Reckon these will be good for regular skids n shit but still interested what they be like for normal driving.
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

Prly didnt phrase my post correctly.. Not really worried about the way the car drives etc as I have driven eaton lockers before more just interested in the quality.. as in how they have stood up to hard work and how well the actual locker performs.

TUFFVQ how have you found yours?

"On arrival into Australia, each unit is hand inspected, stripped, chemically cleaned and re-assembled using high quality Australian fasteners."

    Best of China to you?

At the price you always know it's not going to be of equal quality to the harrop-modified eaton.

Chuck - Was just more for interest, I hadn't seen many photos before I bought mine.

S133LTR - No idea, as in my earlier post mine isn't installed yet.

Would one of these be superior to a standard XR6 LSD or would I be better off getting the factory LSD and shimming it up? (The XR6 lsd is a clutch type one isn't it?)

You can get b/w lsd tightened up & can be a good thing although if car is making shitload of grunt, planned racing or many skids bypass lsd go straight to truetrac.eaton or tightarse mini-spool.

So yeah they are ultimately better than b/w lsd that can wear out or annoying chirping minispool

afaik there is only viscous (some 90s holdens and fords) or cone LSDs. both are aids.

if these centres actually work, then they are a good cheap way for removing bog warmer aids.

    Group buy lol?

I've got a freshly rebuilt and re-shimmed BW78 LSD to go into my Bluebird but this seems like a better idea?

know a few dudes running these, theyre a good thing. they appear to be pretty much a direct copy of the harrop unit, at half the price

and of course they came out a month after i dropped a grand on a harrop for a 78.

The parallel cross gear helical LSDs are the best option for a street/strip/track car that doesn't lift rear wheels/you never want to pull it down to rebuild.

The layout of parallel means there is more meat in the housing and more tooth contact area size for size vs the old style torsens in FD/Supra/whatever used them, win, win win.

The only thing you might want to do is try to get bevel washer preload on the side gears (if this particular design allows) if your car is very light in the rear end/you just about pick up rear wheels in turns.

I have a guru helical in my first gen rx7 (had open, mazda 2 way clutch LSD and driven solid in them) and had factory clutch, detroit and helical in my BT50, for a street/odd skid car the helicals are the winner.

I have a harrop one bw78, when i dropped it off to my diff guy to get fitted he made sure it was the real thing.

He said if it wasn't he would have refused to fit it, machining tolerances/ issues i guess.

    the poor man pays twice.
