Was it ground flat? A chamfered grind in my opinion would be better. Was it cooled while grinding?

I've got you blocked on my profile and now I once again ask myself why I unblocked this post I don't know.
However I'm glad I was able to peruse your opinion on how the pinion was ground now that I clicked 'view post'.
    Fuck off you useless prick.

Fuck you I like to know little intricacies about things like this so one day when some fuckwits are arguing about grinding gears I will know what works and what doesn't. All you had to say is yes or no you think it might also help someone here other than me? Say like some one doing the install them self.

Ill let you know in a few weeks how it drives if that helps you. From what I remember though you're diff for the VH will well and truly have been built?
If all goes well then I'll put another one of these centres into a 3.45 live axle diff for my other car as well.

Always thought gears were case hardened or some shit & grinding would weaken + shorter gearing(extra teeth) said to be less metal/meat on them.

Not keen on grinding like most wouldn't obviously...less worry I think for truly higher powered cars as they generally run taller gears.

Just us with budget low powered cars will be concerned or is that less likely to beak them lol.

Looking forward to comment once driving & skidding dude.
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

I'm not sure of the interpretation of the 'grinding' process here but what is ground back is not in any way the contact surfaces of the diff gears where the drive torque is transferred. Look at the photos; you can see the top surface of the pinion gear is quite shiny compared to the usual hardened surfaces of the teeth which as in contact. The area ground back is the surface perpendicular to the flange axis. The clearance required is the top surface of the pinion gear to the LSD housing.

I paid $999+$25 delivery. I could see the group buy (LOL!!!!) was going nowhere so I bought one. I'm just over the single spinner when I give it more than 25% throttle. Getting all new superpro bushes done at the same time as I saw my passenger side diff bush was torn in half.

No you guys are talking BW78 and I'm using an M86. I bought it off Tuffcarparts and that's the price for an Eaton not the Torqueline.

That's not a bad price anyway.

    That included the bearings?

What superpro you using? The voided ones or those new solid elastomer ones?

I just got nolathane centre and solid sides for mine.

You've obviously got a coon too; which model?

No I bought the bearings separately, they were another $200 for the full kit with Timkens not chinese bearings.

I bought the new Superpro polyelast bushes as they appear to be fine from all reports. I've got a G6ET with F6 injectors and a tune. Unfortunately the bug has bitten a little and I wish I had bought the Bosch 1000cc injectors for when I want more power, which will probably be soon.

you'll be able to get most of your spend back if you sell those injectors though, so no biggy

I'm the same, really didn't want to go this far; pot committed now though.....

How are these things going? My finger is hovering over the buy it now button but wouldn't mind some unsolicited PF feedback first.

    It'll be going into a BW78 with 3.45s

    Cheers!

I've done probably 7-800km with mine now. Haven't had an issue.

Will be using one when I change the ratio on my other car.

    This ended up happening.

Zero complaints from diff shop but did need to machine the 3.45 pinion slightly to accommodate the larger centre. May have been able to get away with it (as above 3.45's have been fitted without machining) but i just got it done.

Not thoroughly durability tested but confirmed working as per design and is silent in operation. Would recommend.

Bumping this thread since it had a discussing and photo's off gear contact before photofucket fucked off.

    Thoughts on this?

    Drive

    Coast

DIff is an IRS M86 with a Trutrac Centre and New Genuine Dana 3.07 Gear Set, I think it looks pretty good (and matches the lapped pattern on the non marked teeth pretty well) but i'm concerned it may be a little high on the tooth, but then again so it the lapped area.

    TIA

    Means well but is skittled
