Nothing sketchy about them. Really fun ripping around town.

I find myself riding the z125 more than the zx10.

Saw 45-ish y/o dude with an open faced helmet commuting on one of these things the other day - he looked like some kind of mentally deficient clown.
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

I'd feel a lot safer and happier on a motard.

So I'm looking for a small fun ride while the Vespa wheelie scooter of death gets some more HP and a rebuild

    Looking a a Z125 or grom

Then I come across the braaap superlite

Turns out you can get it road legal with a Daytona 190!
    https://www.braaapmotorcycles.com/co...te-190cc-14-14

I wouldn't mind it and I'll chuck on some knobby rubber and crash it in the dirt

How slow is a stock grom compared to say a postie?

I'm a fat fuck, but my Vespa is 100kg and has over 15rwhp and heaps of midrange torque it's quite fast and I don't want a snail that couldn't keep up with a bus

I used to have a motovert rx125 years ago, but it was a bit average

Keep in mind I'm a fat fuck and over 100kg

So far I'm thinking of in this order

    Braaap superlite 190
    If not the 160model
Not interested in the 125 model

    Then the Z125

    And lastly the grom

    Any other ideas

Looking to spend $4k, but can easily double it if I really needed to

Daytona 190 is a decent engine. Build quality is not the same as the jap bikes though.

Would be keen to take one for a ride

Welcome to have a test of my z125 if you are in Sydney

Been thinking more and more about it

As much as I want the 190

Having owned a RX125 I think I'll give it a miss and get the Z125 or the grom

I really need something I can not only have fun in but ride for a couple of hours

I couldn't ride my RX for more than 10 min

    so i got a grom

suspension is beyond a joke LOL

needs clutch springs as it slips way too much

takegawa 181kit isn't even close to my old vespa in terms of power and torque, kit i have is the 181 kit the cam fuel controller and some slight upgraded intake and a pipe.

but its the 2v, i reckon the 4v would be 90% of the vespa

that said its not bad, it goes okish...

suspension is coming soon, so it will be significantly better, then i'll take it out to the hills, not game to at them moment, i'll just bounce off in to the bushes.

Been researching these things and may as well take plunge for the price as its looks like good fun.
Total bike novice will need to get L's and haven't ridden in 20+ years and also live 40km from CBD (can get to burbs via a few back roads and minimal 100kph zones)
Will i die a fiery death?

Brap or Grom for me but unsure which to get but i do want manual as also planning to get a Z125 for no pics if she can pass L's and enjoys riding.

Cunts ride 50cc scooters on the highway, you'll be fine. Plus my old Madass 125 could do 120kph after a few mods (intake exhaust and geared taller) so I can't imagine a Grom being much slower.

Having had the grom for a little bit now

I should have bought the Z125

I bought the grom because of the mods

But I've seen some Z125's for just over $3500 ride away

Things I prefer on the Z better suspension

By a fucking mile, better seat better looks

Grom has better brakes, but that's an easy fix

The suspension is going to cost me a shitload where as the Z125 would have been acceptable

    Sounds like fun

I've got a takegawa 181 on my grom and it's way too slow

Probably cos I'm 3x the weight of it's intended rider

I was considering upgrading to the 4v head

    But where do you stop

Anyone know he deal with motorcycle engine conversions?

A crf 250 engine would be spot on they are about 35-40hp aren't they

A 450 would be way better but probably pushing it a bit..

I've googled and found nothing so I assume it's not allowed

now swaying towards the z125 after watching a few reviews , don't really wanna do major mods and seems it only really requires brake lines and a pipe.

does the big bore make much difference vs cost?

Big bore on these small bikes makes a massive difference.

There's also the Grom with the Ducati engine

But that's more of a, add wheels and seat to an engine rather than an engine swap

A 2 stroke would be awesome too...

I am debating getting one of these as a second bike, but due to size (myself 120kg, 6'3, and the bike) am just leaning towards a cheap ninja or similar. Love the look of these, but I just don't think it would be a good fit due to it being so tiny and underpowered.

MexicanBatman - The 190cc drops straight into the 50cc on the braap. 165kph - you'll need a carb change and something else I am forgetting.
Have bought two with the intention of road reg both, and converting one to electric.

Yeah you could drop in a Daytona 190 engine for ~$1500 or so but they are long as fuck and you might have clearance problems with the front wheel.

I am waiting and might pick up the new Monkey bike based on the Grom for running around local.
I'm guessing they will be released in August when the Z50 run is finished.

Braaap emailed me and said compliance should be done very soon on the 190 model

That will be a very fun little bike I used to have a motovert RX125, I decided on the grom though as the braaap like the rx just feels too crazy for a fat old cunt like me
