    Supercharging - The basics?

I have had a Supercharged AW11 years ago, and that was alot of fun!

Ive now done the unthinkable, and fitted a Supercharger on my Station car (Echo Sportivo 1.5 1nzfe)

It was an off the shelf Blitz Kit I imported that was already attached to an engine (a 1.3ll 2nzfe).

Kit comes with a small little black box, for fuel controll. It was sticked to suit the 2NZ Automatic 2wd. (Mines Manual). The kit also comes with a fuel regulator that sits with the fuel pump...I dont have this either...

Long story short, it runs, but goes like shit, probably worse than stock.

Here is a Video, to about 70km...

Its in and out, not smooth....bought an Emanage Ultimate, just need to get the loom.

    At least it looks cool

Installed a Boost gauge last night, and it reads .4 bar (5.8psi). Guys in UK/US are making about 8psi...it made 70fwkw (94hp) but guys are making 120hp.

Do these work like a turbo? If i do the exhaust, induction, will it see more boost? Or do i just have add a pulley?

Sorry that wasn't meant to sound aggressive. Why don't you have the regulator? Is it boost referenced?

It looks clutched but would likely also have a bypass valve.

AFRs and AIT from the dyno would be handy to know.

It will definitely benefit from both intake and exhaust but how much will depend on what's on there. Roots blowers are very sensitive to intake restriction so anything you can do there will net easy gains.

I was hoping you had supercharged your 4WD

That looks very much like a newer version of a SC12. Do you know what model Ogura it is MrPoon?

If it's in and out, find what's triggering the clutch on the SC and how the bypass is triggered and setup.

    Fueling issues aside obviously

Work shop has always tuned my cars. 7 years, 400rwkw not a single issue, so I trust him hehe

AFR were in the 14s i think...

This controls the Clutch, on low, the SC is almost instant (Maybe 5% throttle) on Med its 50% and High its 100% throttle.

    This may help?

    Supercharged Echo?

You Sir are fucked in the head.
Not to mention Ohlins, Hankook RS-3 and Enkei rims haha

lean as fuck mid range with hot intake temps I'd say ecu is pulling timing to try and save itself.

thanks guys, I hoping once I hook up the E-Manage ultimate, it will be happy days! Got a 5Zigen 4-2-1 header to put on it. Not sure if i should complete the rest of the exhaust? (It has a Fujitsubo axel back)

if I can make 100fwkw it will be a blast to drive

Whats wrong with the E-Manage Ultimate? Seen plenty of big HP cars running them.

The GReddy Supercharger kits come with the Blue as part of the kit

Does the emanage do timing as well as fuel?

Will you be going larger injectors? boost referenced FPR?

Yup Emanage does it all....super duper interceptor but quite powerful and analogous to a power FC. I have one on my blacktop and allows you to add boost no drama at all. Finding a tuner who is confident with one is the issue but if you have that then I'd have no hesitation in using one for a mild hp setup.

and yes should be a boost referenced FPR...stock one will work fine in that capacity.

Bear in mind roots blowers pump the same amount of air per rev irrespective of engine capacity. if the setup was designed to make 8psi on a 1.3 then 6psi on a 1.5 is pretty much on the money. You will need to get a bigger crank or smaller supercharger pulley to increase the revs on the supercharger respective to the engine, so that it can pump more air in per engine rev.

Also it is running pretty damn lean in the low-medium rev range. Get a smaller sc pulley, put a better intercooler on it (does it even have an intercooler??) and do whatever you can to free up the intake and exhaust, and get a proper tune on the cunt
