Yup. The garage ornament is being preserved, while the lawn ornament is being destroyed.
Is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

well so long as somebody brings it back to life, shame to rot away.

Could be fun to restore except working on nissans is not my favourite pastime

The jacuzzi (with a lid on it) doubled as a helicopter landing pad IIRC.

Looking at the current state of it though, how would you rate the level of workmanship?

Better than most aftermarket limos built in the 1980s considering it's size and where it's been stored.

It may of already been asked, but I'm continually astounded by what I class as cars of interest/significant heritage/value or all of the above simply being forgotten, not cared for or simply wasting away.

I've never understood how this occurs, is it a deceased estate and other members of the family have no interest? Do people just lose motivation and all interest? Or something I've failed to see?

Older stuff - alot of it wasn't worth shit in the 70's and 80's - and hell even the 90's. Interesting modern stuff being abandoned I don't understand.

some people lead very busy lives - if you are building a successful business you probably dont have time for cars, marriages etc etc.

some people suffer from mental illness/hoarding

Years ago I used to see a house with 3-4 abandoned merc grossers in his front yard/driveway - story goes he was an engineer and a bit nutty but not short of a buck - when one broke down he would leave it there and buy another etc etc.

I remember when I was 11, and seeing a genuine white VH Group 3 Brockodore a few streets down from where we lived. Was very unloved, dirty, with black stockies on it.

Over the next 18 months of living there, I pretty much watched it detriorate rather quickly once the rego lapsed and it had been broken into a few times.

A crying shame, considering what they're going for these days.

I posted this a couple of years ago, and apparently it's still sitting there. Typical old mate, I'll get to it one day. 1 of 20 made, 1 of 9 known left.

Jesus Christ I remember seeing pics of that thing when I was a kid. May have been in a book.
Ian's right. Considering it's probably been sitting in a open air carpark or in the middle of the desert I'm actually surprised that it's all sorta in one piece (i.e. not missing 8 different sections where all the welds from the 10 different caddy sections they use together)

I imagine the inside is worse for wear.

Many GTR guys hearts are breaking at that. Poor GTR.

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.

Retro rides forum has a great abandoned thread.

At Essendon station before August there was an abandoned Merc 450 Coupe. Was sorely tempted to skull drag it out of there but moronic PSO's kept hanging around it.

    I dragged one home recently...

(yes I know my finger is in it, gimme a break my hand is broken).
