    RN 46 Hilux

I have always loved RN 46 hiluxs, I had one when I was 18 with a 253 in it, I still have it, it but I modified it to the point I couldn't get rego and it sat in the shed unfinished for years

This is the old one unfinished

I thought I would look for a decent chassis and transfer my cab that I painted onto it and use my motor and box (injected 5l t700)

This came up for cheap cheap and was to good to chop up for the chassis.

I took it to the beach with the 18r and quickly decided it needed the v8 asap. took a week off work and got into it.

    motor coming out

New motor ready to go in

Its super tight, especially without any bodylift, next time I have the motor out I will clearance the trans tunnel a tad

    Installed the shifter

v8 hiluxs are hard to cool, I managed to squeeze a 4 core hq radiator in, I had to give the lux the chop chop and modify the bottom tanks to make it fit,
I used two 12 inch maradyne fans that are keeping it cool - yet to hit the beach to really test the cooling system

I have been driving it round as is, I have had a few other jobs that need to be finished to complete it, needs the surge / fuel system finished, reverse light, gbox lockout etc to finish it of.
It also has something loose inside the torque converter so I have to pull the box and replace that asap.

its a fun car to cruise around in with the v8 and auto

    Finished

I'd have no issues with putting a decent motor in it either. 18r's are dangerously slow these days.

Finally found some Globes for the lux, they need a good polish and paint and some new 31 muddies buy I think they suit perfectly

    Nice, looks neat as.

I've always had a boner for 1st gens (4wders perspective). I'd really like to pick up a swb one day.

Nice! mine is the same colour but the next gen and 2WD, I looked up the paint code to see if it had a funny name like "japanese racing brown" but it was just "yellow"

only thing it needs is a column shift to stealth up the interior, from a similar era Toyota hiace or something
