Saw a couple of ZBs on the road this today, looked like base spec liftbacks. Was a bit underwhelmed, not helped by both of them being white.

What a time to be alive. When are we going to get PF sources quoted by mainstream media?
Ok it's hardly mainstream media (but is just as awful), but PF does get referenced as "skyline nerds talking about it" in this... https://jalopnik.com/three-racing-ch...-of-1821010869

    Jalopnik sucks balls now. They are so hurt because;

    1) TEN (Roadkill etc) and Dodge have a tie in they don't have any sponsorship
    2) They totally wreck multiple loan cars cos they are poor kids and can't drive - so now no on gives them demos except for wagons and grocery getters
    3) They don't have any money because their parent company was sued for posting some crap about so no name celebrity

Just reading the latest Wheels mag. Opel vxr ss replacement does 0-100 in 6.9 standing 1/4 in 14.9 which they said was “respectable”. Give me a break. The vf 2 sv6 that they couldn’t stop bagging does 14.7 quarter with 15 less kw and no awd. Sound like a crock to me

Wheels have been so far up Holden's arse for years, of course they are going to help sell the new bus

I usually quite like Wheels but even I'm getting sick of their constant flogging of this car. I have had enough of reading about it, and it's had far more coverage than a car which will attract a pretty small number of sales would justify.

Having said that, the VXR's times in Wheels are slow as but the article makes clear the testing was done in 40 degree heat. Why they didn't test them somewhere other than the Back of Bourke is another question.

That goes back at least into the 1980's too.

Holden must have paid out a fair bit over the years for Wheels staff benefits, etc.

I love it when Publication X is always "firmly up Manufacturer Y's arse", and then next month they favour Manufacturer Z and all the Manufacturer Y fans are all up-in-arms about how Publication X is always firmly up Manufacturer Z's arse ...

They have to try something, they've resorted to having to put some retarded brodozer with a fucking diesel engine on the cover of what's supposed to be an enthusiast magazine ...

Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

VRX is a badge, and the ZB Commodore VRX is AWD (3.6L n/a V6).

    I think only this week.
Not that you’d tell the difference from a Mazda6 ... “wow, someone bought a 6 that isn’t Soul Red!”.

Only thing that stood out for me seeing the test ones in Melbourne traffic was either the badges taped over or left hand drive, otherwise wouldn’t of noticed them.

Appliance is 100% applicable in this scenario

Yeah wheels is up Holden’s arse because it sells magazines.

Basically anything with a falcon or commodore on the cover would see a rise in circulation, so why wouldn’t they flog it. Fuck any perceived journo bias or integrity.

If the VXR was TT then I’d be interested.

My bet. Holden don't last five years.

Peugeot have bought out Opel and will do their thing with them. The three Korean GM plants are at 20% of their output capacity and one factory has already shut down.

That leaves no one for them to import from. The Australian market is also too small (and diverse) for them to argue a replacement sedan/wagon. I see Kia filling Holdens void and stealing all their sales very quickly.

Why would they even need to actually replace the Commodore? The large family sedan is pretty much dead. Everyone wants SUVs/dual cab utes which GM does fairly well.

Was thinking that this morning whilst looking at reviews. Not a matter of if but when.

Ditto the four banger being better then the six. Read that in most reviews.

I got no interest in a big FWD sedan. The VXR sounds like it handles really well but lack of poke doesn’t do it any favours when you look at what you could buy for similar coin.

The most comparable thing I can think of is the Saab Turbo X, this thing has another 10 years of dev work and an extra litre of motor, it's not going to be slow. The Swedes have the AWD systems launching with 600+ hp without things exploding.

    Errr wait up, edit:

The V6 is naturally aspirated? In the top spec VXR?

    ...

    ...

    ...

    ...

    ...

    ...

    ...

The Insignia VXR is turbocharged so I was expecting...

    Uh...

I'm confused on so many levels now.
