a rav4 will fall to pieces if used on dirt roads for any length of time. As would a prado I'd suspect.
.... because every driver experiences the destructive potential of the effortless surge of power available through the smallest of body movements.

Prado should be more reliable than a hilux...IIRC during Toyota testing, a prado has to complete more off road test circuit hours without failure

    I'd buy a diesel.

Most of the people that live in those communities and travel to and from Alice are getting around in Magnas, Commodores, and Hyundais.

I reckon a Delica would be OK, reaonably comfortable, plenty of space for art, and if she needs to she can sleep in it Wicked Camper style.

I've spent the last 5 years working in NT communities, they're certainly an experience!

If comfort/economy is even remotely a consideration (which it should be given the distances involved), fuck any of the old shit off and stick with 80/100/pajero/prado.
Any of these will do the job. take your pick between petrol and diesel (running/servicing costs vs fuel economy vs purchase price)
    NOT made in fucking China!

If this is on the cards one of the blokes I work with is about to sell his. Only driven to work in the CBD plus occasional dirt bike outings, lift, good tyres, roof basket etc.

We're looking at a 2010-2012 Rav4 with 4x4 personally, for the nopics to replace her Mazda2 buzz box. Seems to fit the budget and have the stuff we need - bit of beach driving/small tracks to beaches and mostly her daily use.

X-Trail was the other option but if I am not mistaken was more expensive.

Yup. 4.8 with direct injection LPG and recent top end rebuild. Chasing $16k with lift, wheels and tyres (35's I think), roof basket etc. Waiting on pics and further details but knowing him it will be a good thing, anal retentive and ocd to the Max with his shit.

Don't count on getting LPG at any of the communities where the art centres are.

Some of the roadhouses on the highway have it, some don't.

I need a fourby, I have a love for 80 series but fuck me a decent turbo diesel is pricey for a 25 year older car.

feel free to send info over. thread starter gets first dibs, but I was just about to post a thread with same requirements.

    Oo___oO
