nugget vc commo wagon sr20det thing

Hi all, finally got my new project to a point that it is worth starting a build thread.

Picked up a vc wagon from next door to my parents house for $50. It had sat in their yard for about 8 years.

Dragged it next door and started measuring

All looked good, so started with the important stuff. Wash, chop springs and fit interceptors. Old wheels were rusted away and fused to the hubs, also fitted vs diff and front suspension.

Ripped the 179 out, and fitted vl manual pedals.

Swapped a sr bellhousing onto a vl gearbox, as the sr box was too long. Was hoping i could used the standard vl tailshaft, but seems the tunnel is a bit different from vc to vl. No biggie

And then first test fit of the engine. Had to cut off the Bracing on the crossmember as well as the engone brackets. It is a pretty snug fit as the commodore rails are taller and closer together compared to a silvia.

    And thats where i'm at.

Is that lichen or birdshit on the windscreen? Not a huge fan of VCs or SR20s but this looks great, so much room for activities and intercoolers!

Yeah nice, had a quick look and the weight on the vc commodores are 1,1581,348 kg, so even with bolt on shit to the SR, could be a good little jigga, leave the outside as is and no one would look twice at it.
I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me...

    Cool build!

It looked grotty as hell in 1st pic.Tetanus shot worthy.

Passenger mirror delete cover to get rid of that poxy mirror...off the vb-c L models

What's blue one in garage got done to it?

    Going to lighten wagon?
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

Crack: just an n/a box. And yeah straight swap. Tail section on the vl/r32 box is 70cm shorter.

Gtrboyy: it actually has the mirror delete, the wonky mirror is screwed to it haha.
Blue one has s14 front suspension with drop knuckles, equal length 4 link and watts link in the rear and 17x9 and 10 regamasters. Neverending forever project. Too much time invested to drift it now.
And yeah, will bin most of the interior.

So much yes! Please finish this. Seeing as though it is in the race car section, I'm assuming you have some track plans for this?

I think I remember reading a thread on that blue Commodore in a Silvia forum. Was wondering what happened to it.

Whoops! Yeah, going to be a drift car.
Front suspension still to go in consists of silvia coilovers and knuckles, gktech roll centre adapters. Mate is turning a set of adapters so i can run silvia ball joints in the commodore lca. Have urethane bushes and a big swaybar also.

Rear is getting coilovers, adjustable upper arms and panhard rod, urethane bushes, and bigger swaybar also (need to make end link mounts) as mentioned it has a vs diff, that will get 4.1s and a mini spool.

I have collected all of the above parts, just need time to fit it all

Other assorted parts are a haltech ps1000, velo seats, nardi steering wheel.

Trying to keep it simple and easy to re-shell when needed

    Little update with pics.
Mate had made me a pair of balljoint adapters. Can now run s13 balljoints in commodore lower control arm

Pic after welding with s13 knuckles and gktech roll centre/extra lock spacers

And random pic of all the new suspension gear

One question. Why did you go back to the old style control arms if you were using VS suspension it the front could you have used the VS control arms for the S13 BJ adaptors?

E-Z: bahaha, very much kinda is

Rdyno: the gktech adapters add about 25mm of track width per side, so i think i'd be pushing my luck withusing the vs lca's but will hold onto them if i want to use them down the track http://www.gktech.com/media/catalog/...74782465_n.png

I was wondering how S13 RCAs would work, interesting. Wonder if Greg put any anti-ackerman in them (looks like there is a bit there)

Is that 6.5 years when you get your license back or when you will be old enough to apply for one ?
