Toyota Supra 2017? bullshit or possible?

if so will make the 86 as unwanted as a porsche 924

The price of 2017 Toyota Supra was not revealed but we can assume that new sports car will be more expensive than Chevrolet Corvette.
not sure 86 buyers and supra buyers would be choosing between the two.

Being a bit more than Corvette would mean it'll sit pretty much bang in the middle of GT86 and Lexus LC500, which makes sense.

If it does come out, hope it looks like the prototype. Not like the 86 where they had one of the few protos that looked bombed and then released something a bit more tame.

Can't see it making it's way to AUS/Japan that quickly though, given it is a Toyota US project?

The only thing that article has correct is that BMW and Toyota are platform sharing the next Supra/Z4.

The AE86 will still be a budget car. The Supra never was and won't be. Better question will be where in the US market will it be placed not to eat into Lexus coupe sales.

I imagine it will be at least double the price (ie $60k plus), so no.

likely ~$100k versus plus $400k is kinda like comparing apples and wombats though?

anything above 3 figures on the Supra and I do agree

Surely this will be GTR priced, if not 911 Turbo priced.

Even the Nismo model is only $227k. Base level is now "Premium" at $189k.

A long way short of $250k!

Toyota would like to be aiming to for the Supra to compete with the GTRs.... but it does seem like a long shot considering GTRs these days.

I reckon Supras will be priced around M3 money ($140k)

M3s aren't really $140k these days when they have a small number of options. They're pushing $170-180k. Not the list price, but the real price when you drive out.

The Supra/NSX/GTR are all the same market. So would be around a similar price.

Expect this (from my experience doing pricing at the big T)

Will it be more than a retail priced Ferrari? Which I also cannot afford. Pal.

    Looks good though.

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.

NSX then, sales flop. NSX now... headed towards a sales flop. All investment money being made on housing is being spent on 488 GTBs. It is a Ferrari sales record breaker that car in Australia.

As if you were that price range you'd buy an nsx over a 488.

Thats my point. If a Supra is $100k then that competes against the M2. Badge snobbery will triumph in this case.

Z4's arent pricey but considering the hybrid and engine technology the Supra will have + 2dr Tax, Id be suprised if they were anything less than $89K plus onroads

For sure. I mean, that's a base price for a (proper) performance car these days isn't it? Even HSV operate really in the +$100k range.

Surely not. The market for six figure sports cars is tiny, but there is almost nothing in the $60-100k range. That would be the sweet spot to target IMHO: basically people who have an 86 and now have more money/people who might have bought a Z if they weren't a decade old.

What? The Clubsport is $70-80k. Only the GTS is over $100k and I doubt many actually pay that price as plenty of new stock listed for ~$90k.
    If in doubt power out

What's HSV got to do with anything? Totally different market.

People forget that $150-200k isn't that much money these days, especially with lease rates at very low levels. There is a huge amount of wealth in major cities such as Sydney and Melbourne, particularly given the rise in house prices.

Just for the sake of it, I just ran the numbers on a 718 Cayman S ($150k-ish) for 3 years with 20,000km pa. Came out at just over $700 a week.
