    RMX Challenger

Bought it new in 2012 and probably should have started a thread then but it's before PF was 4x4 friendly (apart from that 4x4fishguy dude).

It looked like this when I picked it up:

and when it's clean, it now looks like this:

It's done every state and territory except Tassie, and with the lockers and whatnot it holds its own against GQ/GU and Cruisers's on 35s.

I'll slowly fill this thread with the shit I've done to it: Lift, bar work, roof console, fridge, drawer, stereo, intercooler/exhaust etc.

It will also tow the work in progress camper trailer (when I finish the fucking thing) that I can post more about it if anyone's interested:

Except for the xrox, that's very tidy.

Smaller tyres on the camper trailer, will free up bulk weight savings... You don't need massive tyres on the trailer. I've 32s on my camper, and 35s on my cruiser.

I loved the XROX at the start.. now they are everywhere I'm kinda over it, but it's taken several roo strikes very well so I can't complain.

While I agree there is some weight/fuel saving running smaller tyres on the camper trailer, I want all wheels interchangeable between tow vehicle and trailer and with its initial outing at full weight, once aired down the trailer didn't bog down in soft sand at all with the big footprint.

I'll likely settle with 33s on the trailer (35s on it at the moment) and keep 33s on the Challenger for touring.

One of the first things I wanted to do was to piss off the factory stereo but retain the multifunction screen for trip computer/distance to empty/fuel economy/clock/temperature etc.

The screen was originally in the top of the dash, and it's a 1.5 DIN with a small useless pocket below:

The din slot low in the dash that originally had the factory CD player in, I had initially planned to try and make the 1.5 din screen fit in a 1 din slot.

    Too hard.

I wanted a roof console anyway for UHF and storage, so I decided I'd move the multifunction screen to the roof console as well.

I started by stripping the dash, the screen looks like this once stripped:

Screen modified, cut down and reassembled:

I then started to design and build a roof console out of MDF:

    Test fit:

(In this pic there is no 'bottom' to the screen housing so the screen is not sitting flush.)

I then sanded edges down and prepped it for trim.

The console is trimmed in 5mm of foam so it's a little soft, then black suede over the top:

(In the above pic I hadn't yet finished and carpeted the pocket.)

And finally fitted up, it has the screen, UHF, both interior lights/sunglasses holder and a large pocket with 12v socket in it.

And the single din low in the dash now has a switch panel for spotties, fridge, compressor, twin USB ports and an accessories switch meaning the stereo can be on while camping without keys in the ignition.

    Paj? You mean Triton Wagon?
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."
