Put a fan behind you and do it outside, it's itchy as fuck. We use normal high speed steel twist drills.

seen lot of the US guys making 110-115hp and 125ft lb! pretty good.

Harley heaven have a special $3699 fitted in May, thinking of doing it.

What sort of quarter mile times does 110hp equal?

pretty open ended question, but mid to low 11's. The shop has a 14.5:1 compression 120ci FXDLS making near 150hp and cant crack the 10's because it either spins to 200m or wheelies and has to back off.

Even with my paltry power, the torque means 1st gear is a write off when launching from a set of lights. Can only get traction when clicking 2nd and even then if it's a flat change it steps out on you. Fun but not fast.

Need to work on the tune more, I think there is a lot more in it than that. I was hoping for mid 90's and 115+ torque, but every dyno is different.

Yeah that's pretty good actually. My sporty would run out of revs on a quarter with the massive sprocket on the back but I figured low 12s.

I've hired a dyno tomorrow and will be spending all day on the tune.

I'm hoping for mid 90's hp and 110ft lb or more for a good spread of the rpm range.

    **NERD STORY BELOW**

I've noticed that my bike was very difficult to start when hot. Auto compression release was set on On in the tune however it was my belief that the output was not toggling the ACR's at all. If you switched the ACR to off the bike started no different to when they are on. This got me thinking that there was something wrong with the Base Calibration that are loaded onto these bikes.

After dealing with some guys in the states and reviewing their tune files there was definitely a few discrepancies between the two tunes in stock configuration. I fired a few emails to HD Aus to show them, the replied saying they will check with HQ in USA and advise of further info.

Long story short, The Aus calibration has a few variables in the tune that differ from the USA Bikes I presume for emmisions. In those deep embedded tables that cannot be viewed in WinPV or SERT the ACR's are indeed a 0 instead of a 1 and do not work at all even if toggled. I tested this theory by using a USA tune with the "621" calibration, copied and pasted my VE/Spark/Misc tables over and the bike now whirs into life like it's been on a jumper pack. There is also a loud audible click of the ACR's engaging when the ignition is switched on.

Because of my inquisitive nature most likely a recall will need to be done on all 2016-17 FXDLS in Aus lol. I'm waiting for a reply on that front but I doubt they will go to that extent. I don't care now I have the USA base calibration but for a lot of others with problems like mine it's something that should be addressed.

I've complained numerous times to my dealership about hard starting, each time got told "oh it's a big motor bro" or "keep it on the trickle charger" and they think that will get me off their case. Never underestimate the ability of a bored cunt who works nightshifts and tinkers.

For someone that works in dealership world you are that pain in the arse customer that wants to know everything aren't you lol.

I hate them ones. I walk away mumbling
"Just buy the fucking thing and fuckoff. Here have a stubbie holder, please leave. I don't care that your brothers cousins aunty has one that uses less fuel. Try a polarizer.."

Yep. Like I said, I got a lot of free time and a engineering background, knowing how/why things work is ingrained in me.

Call it a pain in the ass, I call it "inquisitive" lol

when a guy off the street can prove their product has a design flaw without their knowledge that's got to be a bitter pill to swallow I imagine. If anything comes from it then I hope it solves a few others out there with the same issues as mine.

95hp 114ft lb not bad at all.

Torque dip at 2k-3k rpm filled in makes it way more responsive now. The cams sign off just too early to build any serious power.

I'd kill for some sort of compression release most days haha. But if thats the only 'issue' you've had so far, then you're laughing.

yeah it's not the end of the world, But considering this bike cost 3x what my car does you sort of want something that will start lol.

Things slowly happening with this bike. Mostly been part procurement. I know the end goal of what I want the bike to be, unfortunately the goal I have is a damn expensive one.

The theme of the bike is really going to be performance based. I ride with a group of boys with bikes that range from full blown superbikes to BMW adventure bikes and anything in between. One thing that has peaked my interest is shocking the shit out of people in the twisties with how capable this bike is. Obviously when the road opens up I get smoked but the run I do 2-3 times a week is a lot of 2nd and 3rd gear stuff and with the stupid amount of torque this bike has it's a real weapon.

I've come to the limits of the suspension, I'm happy with it's performance whilst commuting for sure but the ground clearance is just not enough. So moving up to 13 inch shocks, drop in fork cartridges and adjustable preload inserts.

Few companies who do this, preferably would like to do it in a kit, but leaning towards Ohlins and Racetech or Legend.

The brakes are very good but coming from a MX background I really prefer 1 finger braking, will be upgrading to Hardcase performance oversized rotors to get me there.

Powerwise it's good, but the cam in this bike signs off way too soon. I have to short shift at 4krpm or I'm making losing power. A change to a cam with a lot of torque but a profile that will hold the curve until much later in the rpm range would be great. Whilst I'm in the cam chest will upgrade the cam bearings to Timkens and do the Aftermarket cam plate for better oiling.

I think a lifter is going sour aswell which is common with these 110's, Beleive it or not HD use GM LS lifters in these things!

Paint I've decided on Audi Nardo Grey. It's slightly lighter than Lambo Grigio Telesto and easier to get.

Wheels will be blacked out. Saddleman seat and Lucky daves 12 inch MX bars on it.

I did the air filter today, got rid of the whales cock filter and put on an externally vented DK customs 606.

Sounds like a decent plan. With the grey, will you just go solid colour on the bike or use something else to break it up? I know mine looked bland in a solid colour that's all.

yeah I need to speak to smithy about that, The tank will definately be broken up.

Main background will be grey and the scallop same as the regular Low Rider, but with Red Font I'm thinking.
