    Wheels

So on the search for a new set of wheels for the Patrol. I have my eye on a set of Method wheels, but not sure how'll they go as they don't come in a 18x9 +30, only +20 which may be an issue. I'm going to be running 35's and I don't want them sticking out the guards. These are what I'm looking at.

Anyhow, other options would include KCM wheels, which a lot of the Y62 blokes run. Something like a Heist.

But then I stumbled across these that Cartel sell (Wor57 from here ). A forged alloy wheel out of Thailand. Can't find much info, but basically a ripoff of Weld Wheels by the look of it. I do like it as something different but not sure how'll they'll look on the car. Also don't want to pay $300+ bucks a rim to be out in the middle of nowhere with bent rims.

Anyhow, anyone have anything they would recommend that I should look at?

Those cartel rims look a lot like the Lenso drag series rims.

They're a direct ripoff of Weld Magnums.

The only wheels I would consider for a Y62 are these:

    Factory OEM alloy Beadlocks. /thread.

A few guys I know run Method wheels and can't fault them, I looked at them and went to buy a set of 'Mesh" when I was offered the KMC XD Heist at a price I couldn't refuse by our tyre guys.

I've had them on for a little over 12 months and 20,000km and I'm still happy with them.

The above are a +10, I've found the more aggressive offset the spokes are slightly concave where as the higher positive offset like +30 end up being a flat SPOKE. Depends on the look you are going for but the 18 x 9 +18 would look better IMO.

Try to check out Moto Metal wheels also. They have nice looking designs like their 951 and 961 series. Just like most aftermarket wheels, apply a good wax to keep them clean and protected from road salts.

    These ones look tough

    http://www.blackrhinowheels.com/off-...ims-armory.php

I saw some rims I liked on FB that a business was advertising so I message for some further details. The exchange over the past week went like this.

    ...by private message...

ME: Hi Hussain, I'd love some old school looking wheels for my 1980s Jeep. Could you please let me know the rim diameter/width/offset of these ones and a price? I don't need tyres if that makes a difference.
    (LINK TO THEIR IMAGE)
The middle 2 in this pic might fit the bill too if you could let me know some details
    (LINK TO ANOTHER SET)

...a few days later after they've posted the ad a few more times I replied again on the page...

ME: How'd you go with the details for the wheels I enquired about?
SELLER: Hi mate could you pls tell me what car do you want to fit then i help you
    ME: It's a Jeep J10 so Patrol/Hilux/Landcruiser pattern
    SELLER: sweet , is it 6x139.7 ?
ME: Yep with 108mm centre bore I think
SELLER: but i need the exact offset mate
ME: Around -22 to -40, I'll be fitting flares to suit
SELLER: okay will getting if you need
    ME: Yes please
SELLER: we got package start from $1100
ME: That's great, how about the specific wheels I asked about?
    SELLER: 15x8 -22 with 4 brand new tyres on size 31x10.50R15 cost $1100 with 33x12.50R15 mud $1280
    SELLER: 15x10 -44 and 4 brand new 33x12.50R15 Mud $1580

    ..by private message again...

ME: Hussain, I'd like to know about these used wheels that I specifically asked about
SELLER: they are 15'' rims and tyres like 31x10.50R15 and 265/65R17 the black mags.
ME: I really don't know how to make my question any clearer.
The 7 spoke rims with the black circles.
    Width?
    Offset?
    Price?
I don't care about the tyres, I already have plenty in 15" and 16".
SELLER: Okay sweet. they are 6x139.7 pcd on size 265/65R17
    ME: I give up
    SELLER: you don't want?

Bang my head against the fucking wall.

Put these on a month or so ago. They run true and not needing much weight at all. And unusually these days, everything that looks like a bolt is an actual metal bolt. 18x9.5 I think with a 285.

I can't see any of these rims being repaired with a hammer on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.

Get a set of steelies or stick myfamily stickers on the back window.

Possible with some forged alloys, Centerlines, Alcoa/MT and some Welds can sometimes be roughly repaired with a hammer. Mind you, those wheels take a hell of a lot of beating in the first place, stronger than some steelies.

Cant help with sizing but I have had method double standards on my BT50 for about 3 years now and only fault/wear is the paint on one of the centre caps has peeled off. But otherwise nice strong wheel that has never let me down. I changed from 16x7 +20 to 16x8 0 offset and fitment is perfect, no Mexicans here.
