    I am cleaning up the car and going to start prepping it for paint. I might throw the carbon fibre panels on and paint them to match. I would like to have this car ready to use it for a track day at Phillip Island soon.
    It doesn't need a lot to get it on the track, but still enough to make sure I have no spare time over the next few weeks.

    It's 2k clear over base. It's just very dusty. The colour is the Porsche GT3 RS orange/red.

    I cleaned up the inside of the floor, behind the seats and the boot. Removed anything that looked like it didn't need to be there like brackets and sound deadening. I washed it with prepsol, then sanded it all down (didn't take a pic of it finished). It's amazing how many hours went into it.

    The cage was painted before it was welded in, but by the time I touch up the scratches and around the feet, I may as well paint it again. So it got a going over with sandpaper as well.
    Then the steering column and pedals came out along with the rear harness. Only thing left inside the car is the front wiring loom that I hung out the car.
    The whole inside is now in gloss white. And tomorrow I will mask up the floor so I can paint the cage again. My fingernails are worn right down to the skin from sanding in all the grooves and edges. So it's pretty painful getting thinners or prep wash on the hands while wiping down the areas to be painted.

    I am using a new (to me) Valspar Industrial 2 pack paint in gloss. No clear coat needed. The cage a body will have it as well. I am painting the body black, white and the rollcage colour. Hopefully it looks ok. I have a design in my head, but need to draw it up properly.
    Something like this, but black on the sides, and white in the middle of the roof and bonnet. Might help keep the heat down.

    Never paint the floor first. It took me about 3.5hrs to mask up the car. Anyways, the cage is nice and shiny again. Can't wait to unmask it.

    I plan on taking it to Phillip island on the 11th, so I have 6 days.. May as well do the Supersprint round on Sunday. The Beavis gave me a hand to tidy up the wiring a bit, it's mostly in place. I might just throw the car back together so it's useable, so the carbon fibre doors are coming back off. Too many hours to get them finished.

    Not selling any, I need them all.

    I finished the wiring, connected the battery and made sure it still works. It fired up and ran fine. Such a big relief when you cut plenty of plugs off the loom. Still sounds like a fart in a Milo tin.
    I put the factory doors, guards, bumpers and bonnet back on. And a fibreglass fastback and boot. Made some brackets to hold what is left of the dash, put in the seat, harness and steering wheel with quick release. I also put new Beavis Motorsport rubber boots on the shifter. I will take it off the trailers so I can put the Hawk pads in and bleed the brakes.
    I booked it in for a wheel alignment and corner weight on Friday. Should be ready for Sunday I would think. Not sure if I should bother putting some aero in it, or just drive it as is. If I have time I will throw a splitter and wing on it.

    I managed to spend a few hours on the car again today. Bonded in the windscreen, bolted the roof on, brake pads are on and brakes are bled, etc, etc. There are still a few minor jobs to do. I can't find one of the end links for the front swaybar, so that's annoying.
    Pic before I unloaded it to do the brakes this morning. I should be able to take it for a drive tomorrow.

    Took it for a test drive and it broke down. Something seized in the driveline, and I was on Napean hwy. It's not the best place to break down. I thought it might be the gearbox, maybe I didn't put oil in it. So went back with a jack, some tools and the trailer. Disconnected the tailshaft, tailshaft spins free. So it's the diff. The wheels will spin opposite to each other, they just won't rotate the same way. This is a diff I bought a year ago, but have never driven the car with it. Only did about 1km. Now I need to pull it out and see what I can use. I have a spare diff here, and hopefully I can reuse the diff gears and the Torsen. It's completely locked, I had to put the trolley jack under the rear and winch the car on with the back wheels in the air. And since the front tow hook is on the side, it pulls the car around, so kept falling off the jack. Nobody would stop to lend a hand, that died out years ago.
    Plus it happens to be a 37 degree day, so it was more than a little uncomfortable laying on the hot bitumen.

    It turns out I should have remembered to check the diff oil. It's been a year since putting the diff in the car, and the car hasn't been driven since.
    I have just destroyed a very rare set of 4.44 diff gears. Now I have to rape the black car to get the 4.1 diff and throw it in this car. It needed to come out of the black car anyway as its getting 3.6 gears to suit the turbo powers.. I took the broken diff and the 3.6 open diff down to my mechanic, and we figure the best thing we can do is use the Torsen LSD from the broken diff and put it into the 3.6 diff.

    Take 2. A few smaller issues, but it's working. I need some ventilation, the cabin is completely sealed and its 31 degrees tonight. I was driving with the door open to let some air in when there where no cars next to me. Might have been smart to connect the switch for the windows. I need to do a few more minor jobs and to make it more useable. Pity it's all going to come apart again to paint it and put the carbon fibre panels on. But there is no rush for that.

    I was stupid not to check it. I planned on checking the box and diff, but I was in such a rush to get it driveable, I simply forgot. I did so many minor things like brace the bottom edge of the rear bumper so it didn't flop.
    I didn't do much to it yesterday, I spent half the day at the fibreglass shop. But I did zip tie an R/C battery on the drivers door so I can wind the window up and down without doing any wiring. And I put a 3rd brake light in the back window. Oh, and a rear boot spoiler, figured it needed something to balance the front spoiler.
    It's going down to get a track set up this morning. Only thing left after that is to mount the camera and data gear.
    I also need some kind of console, there is nowhere to put my phone or keys.
