    Barra to Powerglide adapter

I made this up over the past few days for a friend who is building a Barra powered VT Commo for the drags.

He wants to run a glide behind it.

I have a basic HM50 mill, & decided to make it using the mill & lathe.

Some suggestions were made re laser/water cutting the profile, but the issue was making a drawing/template to suit.

So, there are less time consuming ways to do this, but in the end I just decided to get on with it.

Not CNC quality etc., but will do the job.

    Started with a lump of steel 300 x 300 x 25mm

Had to make 2 spools to allow for the step in the BTR bellhousing

My mate just spent $900 on the torquepower adaptor bellhousing. Casting flaws everywhere, looked like it was poured in someones backyard

Thanks guys, always good to get positive feedback.

Dogs, your mate must be pissed off with that.

I hadn't really looked around to see what was available, as this is a 'Scratch my back & I'll scratch yours' sort of deal.

That looks awesome . Very nicely finished off.
Only thing I've sen using the BTR Bellhousing is the converter ends up quite big. I did a Turbo 400 conversion the XR8 that used the BTR bell and adaptor plate , converter was huge .

A similar one I did years ago to turbo 6 used the older BorgWarner 51 bell from an EA wasn't too bad

Convertor could be as big or small as you specify from the converter builder wouldnt it?

It could yes , but the one i was involved in was a bit ridiculous. The converter itself was like a normal 9" converter, but it had these legs on the front that extended forward to make up for the extra deep bell. I wish now I had taken pics

These are good points & I did raise them with the guy.

The people doing the converter are going to run a combination of longer front mounts & pump drive.

They were of the view it was no issue.
