Awesome buy This is definitely a great step up from the SV, rather than going from a clean car to one that needed major input.

Not usually into these VN-onwards Commodores, but this is great. The want is considerable. Modifying it would be a shame, and also a huge spit in the face to the previous owner, so I can definately support your idea of keeping it original.

Couldn't have been cheap, but geez, it's gotta be the last of the truly appreciating vehicles.

Actual racing heritage. Certainly can't buy that anymore

One went past us in the opposite direction between Bathurst and Lithgow. I thought "holy shit, 2 Group A's out in the wild, what are the chances of that?".

Ofcourse the only guy who missed that moment was the guy in the Group A following me!

I feel old saying this but iirc you could win 1 of 2 of these when you bought a carton of Tooheys new back when these where new. Fuck i wanted to win.

Yeah, there were two up for grabs and they were black. One came up for sale a couple of years ago IIRC.

    love it! Immaculate example

I remember working on these and the VL Walkinshaw when they were new.
Lucky enough to work at a Holden dealer at the time.

I realise that by todays standards these cars are slow, but back then they were quick and as someone else mentioned earlier, the racing heritage is just something that can't be replaced. Made them extra special, knowing they were built to race and it was an engine that was developed in house for the same purpose. These days there is no soul to the HSV's. They just slap a Corvette crate engine in and take the credit for it...

Need more details on th cars history, interior pics, engine bay pics etc... pronto!
IMO the last 'true' Australian muscle car. Homologation was an amazing period in automotive time.

I've never understood why the VS GTS/R That followed has been just as desirable/valuable.
I would love to see a genuine stock factory 215i stroker with a group a manifold bolted on.

Excellent purchase, excellent investment. It'll be great to see one of these actually get driven again.

Nice how it's also running the correct Goodyear Eagle tyres.
I've heard some funny things about those Toohey's cars. Some people have claimed they were special builds for Toohey's and they had HRT engines and a few other trick bits. Truth was they were standard builds that Toohey's had resprayed black, they still carried the Durif red paint code. And as per Holden policy they had the warranty voided because of it!
Holden had to get special permission from CAMS to cut production short because they were having trouble selling them, iirc just over 300 cars were built instead of the required 500. Hence the VP GTS using the Group A engine with the bannana intake, word is the surplus 6 speeds, ZF?, were sent to England for the Lotus Carlton.

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.
