Beast yes. Mic does it no justice. Heres a better vid but i might have muffled this one too. There is s lot of ticking coming from near the injectors. I first thought it was an exhaust leak. Then injectors. Then valve clearances. But id be suprised i cocked up the valves. I did do them to death. https://photos.app.goo.gl/TxEUeuR3SPsaqzd43

    Love it.

FWIW my engine doesn't tick like that. It sounds like an exhaust leak to me?

My cost was $700 in materials. $700 for the pro welding job. And about 2 days work.

God damn that sounds awesome man, can't think of a better fanboi code motor for that car.

Was trying to explain the JZX love to my brother, said it looked like a 20yo BMW had had sex with a 20yo Lexus. He's right of course and that's part of the appeal. Will leave a few WTF faces out there.

Yea urr just the facts mate. I can make some if you want. But thats straight up what it cost me. Id hate to pay someone else to work on my car i certainly couldnt afford it. If i could not do the car myself id go and play golf or something. In fact id be so happy if just playing golf satisfied me. Would be so much cheaper.
In stark contrast to this thought glen suckling is coming in a few weeks to do a dirty garage tune and survey for upcoming dyno. Hes pretty big with skyline tuning and fast cars and records and things

Yeah shit like that is expensive, which is why I said I expected it. All good, was just curious.

Anyway enough thread derailing, still waiting for the skid videos!

Well christmas day was eventfull. I had finished the exhaust system after two days of gruelling tubework. And the mrs actually showed some interest in the boring dumb looking not a classic chrome bumpered cool car it should be. So i took her to garage to display the new exhaust aurals to her which we both concluded it was far too quiet. Consists of twin three inch system and with adrenalin r 500mm resonators and oval stainless mufflers. I thought oh yeah might nudge it outa the garage. Then thought oh lets do some forward reverseys to practise the clutch which morphed into wonder if it will do a skid. Then clunkity clunk clunk rear wheel lockup. Oh shit thats right i only loosely put in one driveshaft bolt.

It was a great present to myself. UJ flange to diff stuffed. Resonators dented up. Underside of car munted. Then taking exhaust off i cracked the rear fibreglass bumper. So super chuffed with myself i shut the garage and decided today was not a car day.

Its all fixed now apart from fibreglass which i can ignore or possibly cut out and make a rear diffuser. I cut the dented bits from the middle of resonators and shorted them to 330 mm length. Now it sounds louder and closer how i want it. Got shaft fixed didnt want that extra $357 dollars anyway friggin colossal numbers in bank account were starting to piss me off. And rewarded my stupidity by fitting a cusco 1.5 way lsd coz i cant be buggered ripping it all apart just to fit that later on.

It gets worse. Ive been having a small backfire so did a comp test. Got a low cylinder. Did a leak down and its exhaust. Must have bent a valve when installing cam. So will pull a head off in car. Any tips for removing head gasket from block in a tidy fashion? Anyhow pressing on with intercooler setup. These little beauties only just fit, so keeping with the theme of 9 pounds of shit in a 6 pound bag. Cores are 320 x 250 x 180 thick. Made from cut down vibrant cores.

That is one phat intercooler. Reminds me of the one I found in my Aristo front cut, except even thicker.

Yep its thick like me. You know theres one for each side yea? Yes bumper will fit. Tmrw i will redo bottom tank and plumb to turbo, if sheetmetal plans come true it shud look good but sheetmetal shes a cruel mistress. Ah if your wondering $80 for a head gasket from toyota and $40 for a valve.

Forty bucks for one valve?? That's $1920 for the set! Better hope you don't break a timing chain (pretty sure it's an interference motor).

Its certainly an interference motor the way i build it. If u were going to do the whole set youd go supertech and upsize at same time

Not worrying about that tank ballooning or is 3mm aluminium plenty enough?
