    Tyrie's Datsun 1600

Hey guys, after long time reading and laughing I decided to sign up. This is my toy, pretty much just to have fun at wakefield with maybe a hillclimb or motorkhana thrown in every now and then.

    1971 Datsun 1600

Body: Backyard respray 12yrs ago so not pretty but I've never cared much for shiny paint.
5point alloy bolt in half cage.
14" alloys with any old cheap semi slicks I can find
VW gold mk1 GTI front spoiler

    Engine:
    S13 SR20DET
    GT2871R
    3" exhaust
    evo cooler
    z32 afm
    nismo 555cc injectors
    NIStune
    PWR 4core radiator w/ spal 16" fan
battery, bosch 044 and surge tank in boot

    Driveline:
    s13 5speed w/ short shifter
    r180 3.9 locker
    wolf creek racing CV shafts
    Finned high capacity diff cover

    Suspension/Brakes:
    T3 Adjustable castor rods
    maddat 24mm front swaybar
    lengthened lower control arms
    240k struts with custom coilovers
    koni yellow front shocks
    custom camber/castor plates
    maddat bump steer spacers
    steering box brace
    front strut brace
    Cut king springs rear
    Spax asjustable shocks rear
    whiteline 18mm swaybar rear

    7/8" boosted master cylinder
u12 pintara front rotors with landcruiser 4pots
    R31 disk brake rear
wilwood bias valve mounted next to drivers seat

    Interior:
    Sparco pro2000 seats
    sabelt 4point harnesses
Autometer pro comp ultralite gauges (pieces of crap but they were cheap) for all but fuel level.
    Sparco suede steering wheel
    no back seat (cage)

Castor rods and 555cc injectors only went in this week so it really needs a wheel alignment and a tune, hoping to get these done in the next few weeks.

The plan is 200+rwkw and flat 1:11s at wakefield. Last time out had some fuel issues (tiny gravity fed surge tank and VL pump) and dodgy full slick retreads that were worse than I had imagined and did a best of 1:12.29 with a lot of fart arsing around in 1:15s (see video).

Anyway less words more pics, enjoy

Video from GT-P at wakefield (I pass him at 5:10)

Hmmm. I have seen your car at the suspension place in Fyshwick near my work. It sounds awesome.

Did you used to have a 1200 ute and be on datsun1200.com?

Only rims that belong on a 1600 are 13" jellybeans or TRX rims .

Cheers for the comments guys (and bitch ) Prior to this I've had a fj20et s12 gazelle, 4agte 120Y and fj20et 720, and the 1600 is definitely worth the extra coin! So much better to drive!

All this recent Datto awesomness has me misty eyed for my old 1600 Rally Car:

If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

Police warn that blow-up dolls are not recognised floatation devices.

See this strut brace, is it the type that pretensions the towers towards each other to make the chassis really rigid?

Someone once asked me if they could use my mower. I said "sure, so long as it doesn't leave my yard"

Nope. Actually held it and continued on. It is a Datto and therfore a natural drift car.

Thats how I've got it set now, with the towers pulled inwards (cheap neg camber ) but everyone else has told me I should set it to hold the towers out because they flex inwards under brakes. Now the way I see it with the brace its not going to be flexing at all so i might as well pull them in rather than having them pushed apart all the time...

Those wheels are unfortunately engineered with the car so i have to keep them. I think they are too narrow, gay offset and too heavy.

As for the plates, SLO-510 was taken so I had to come up with something else stupid lol
