nope - long and protracted story that currently sits at mate stuck a long bolt in the wrong hole when re-fitting and into the water elbow on the back of the oil cooler..

It looked low parked next to my vp a few weeks ago.
How long before auto & alternator fixed?
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.
I dropped maybe 2" from factory ute springs & took 50+ kgs out of it yet still vp looked like 4wd.
First thing I checked was rear tyre/guard to see what's needed to fit 255/60 or 275/60 tyre under them lol
By looks of it seemed like he'd been waiting a while for auto bloke to fix it or was giving him the fuck-around

Finally got my act together and yanked out the motor/gearbox. Although a bit of mucking around, just easier with it all out. Was bit of a pain with the aircon all connected but all well
Did the gearbox first. Pulled the extension housing off the old one and the Speedo gear. Measured up the little slot of the Speedo gear retention then cut the output shaft. Swapped the housing over. Turned box over and ripped the pan off to do a service. Fluid a bit ordinary. I took out the s5 solenoid and screwed the adjustment screw in half a turn. This should firm up shifts by increasing line pressure. They say 3/4 for a really solid shift, so I dialled it back. Reassembled and put it back on engine
Started on the timing chain replacement. Started by removing alternator and power steering pump, as both need to be replaced. Then pulled the rocker cover off. When I pulled the top cover earlier there was oil everywhere, particularly coil 1 and 2, they were left not even pushed on. Wtf, dodgy bastard just left it. The rocker cover gasket kit arrived today, so going to replace all of them. So soaked up the oil in the sparkplug holes. Then Took off rocker cover. Cam timing looks ok. Urghh. I have the timing chain kit, so will change it tomorrow anyway
Need to drop past wreckers and grab a PS pump as there is heaps of shaft play, most probably due to running it with no fluid. Then Repco for some oil and oil filter. Change out the timing chain. Then get it back on the road

Good to see you’re getting stuck in. Cam timing codes due to broken plug coming off sensor?
x2
I'd bin the BTR and buy something half decent.

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.
Scored a mint PS pump at Jolly's for cheap this morning. Collected some oil/filter from Repco. Got straight into the timing chain. Took longer to clean the gasket surfaces than to swap it out. Replaced all the front seals and rocker cover seals. Pretty nasty, all baked on. Clean up timing cover and rocker cover as best I could. Put on another alternator and PS pump. Cleaned coils and put original ford top cover on. Drained the oil, swapped over filter. Filled the trans while it was out, as a pain from the side under the car. Spare yoke always handy.
Wired in new alternator plug as old one full of oil and one wire plastic was stripped. Also rewired the crank angle sensor.
Then put it back into car. At this stage milkmedan came over. Helped the last push. No major hiccups. Cleaned up a few things from last time. Filled and checked all the fluids. Turned the key, first crank and it fired. No leaks. Tested trans on the stands and seemed fine. Will take for a test drive in the morning after I fix a couple rear end things

That's fairly moving well done.
I would hazard a guess that the terminals would be correct for a defender.....

Topped up 3 litres of atf, this morning. Removed the last of bump stops so it won't bottom out. Fixed a split in the turbo coolant joining hose. Changed the 2nd fan wiring so it comes on with aircon
Drives alright. Kept nice and cool. No oil or water leaks at all. Ready for sale
