agreed on the sentiment in the last sentence above. its the old 80/20 rule as it relates to modified cars. Barra the world!!!!

If I spent money on mods, I'd like to show.
it at the track, that's the point. But I do get the vl will be much faster

I idea of the 2 step is the balance between 0-15 psi going to be really fine. I can always dial it lower, but can't do it the other way around if convertor is too small.

If I keep diff gears low I can also hit it at the higher boost and keep some traction. It will push deeper into 3rd gear with convertor also.

The car doesn't need more hp, just need to get boost on the line. Also chatting to Jason in SA, seems the falcon has torque management with convertors over 2800 ish, Anthony burns had exact same issue when racing me in his new xe Barra ute on sun.

The line pressure thing with auto has been mentioned to me. Not sure to be honest. I guess that's a new valve body

Anyone know anything about the S5 solenoid mod where you screw it in 3/4 of a turn to increase shift firmness?

The idea of the 2 step would be to leave the line at full boost, but to limit your horsepower at launch via your rpm. If you were to buy a decent stall you could sit on the line on the 2step at full boost at say 3000rpm, at 3000 you probably have half your horsepower available, so launch it hard and let it build power with revs as it leaves the line. Those tyres will hold the power you have but you need to hit them off the line to get the sidewalls working. Set up right its a high 10 sec car.

why not do it through the software? you can set it up for more line pressure at full noise only. then you don't have to deal with rough shifts when you're just cruising around. maybe ask your tuner?

Thanks guys, low 11 and I'd be happy.

Because I have column shift I don't have the tiptronic which raises the line pressure. Talking with Dave at kewish he reckons get it in power mode which is next best thing and will raise line pressure better than S5 solenoid mod

Tbh I'm a little worried leaving line at 18psi even with convertor, which take a bit of the sting out.

Anyhoo, its at tuners today. Dropping shift by 200 rpm and increasing rev limiter 200 rpm. See if it's in power mode. also suss why cruise control isn't working and weird random jerking at light cruise at 60 kmh

Tq management can be dealt with in the tune.
The one thing my old ba needed was a convertor.

How about a modified stock converter? They normally only cost a couple of hundred to split them open and tweak a few hundred more rpm into it.

Need more than a couple hundred rpm, takes a bit for boost to come up. Hence 2.1 60ft

I reckon that run I had trying to bump it up staging and pushing the tires would of been around 2200rpms at best, obviously no tach though so guessing.

Iíd say 3k converter would be where itís at, donít think a modded stocker would get there

Weird it skipped a tooth and has a rough idle now. Wonder if we missed a tooth doing valvesprings but it didn't log. Anyhoo. $198 for new timing cover kit. Not a hard job, just awkward in my car. Fingers crossed I can move aircon condenser to get crank puller in there

    Vs Barra ute

I think the hate is the fords had nothing until the barra, and for so many years has been LS this and LS into that, so get buthurt in a big way seeing a Barra in anything other than a Ford.

Itís sad to be honest how the knuckledraggers carry on. A mate threw a 2JZ in a VT 10yrs and no one, not even toyota fanbois bat an eyelid
