The Tacoma is a regular size for a U.S. truck, and they sell bucketloads of them.

The Tundra is fucking massive, and they don't sell nearly as many.

They don't sell nearly as many Tundra's because everyone is buying a f150 instead.

The Tacoma is not the same as a Hilux though is it? Or are you saying its the same size?
For starters the Tacoma looks a shit load better.

He’s saying the Tacoma is Toyota’s mini truck in the US. And it drives even worse than the Hilux believe it or not.

Fuck, I thought it was RAM's cos there everytwhere!

Umm, food for thought. Every proper four wheel drive released over the past two years has been miserable in crash tests. Wrangler and Jimny are recent examples. Do you think that the Toyota would be any better with their new chassis?

From memory Tundra sales are quite regional. They do very well in some parts of the country (New England, Texas) and poorly in others.

The LC79 does better than the Jimny and Wrangler in crash tests iirc, as do most of the dual cab utes on the market. Although to be honest I suspect the LC300 won't have a serperate chassis anyway.

Previous years ANCAP ratings aren't comparable to current ANCAP ratings, they changed the criteria.

A 5 star ANCAP from 2013 could _easily_ be a single star now.

Big call on a monocoque flagship landcruiser

Turbo petty Landcruiser would be cool, they need to do something to compete with the Patrol. The LC is a bit of a joke in comparison.

It's a luxury SUV these days, going monocoque is inevitable.

LC only outsells Patrol 10 to 1 , they really need to lift their game ;-)

    Fixed.

I genuinely haven't even seen an LC200 on the hard tracks in the hundreds of hours i've done on them.

See them normally stuck on the beach, cruising up well graded trails or most often, at Caravan parks.

lol ‘luxury’. It is still the leading tow vehicle with the most aftermarket support for GVM upgrades and accessories. Monocoque would make a fucking big dent in their audience’s one-eyed warped view of the world

Was referring to quality of product, not quantity of fanbois.

The Patrol is the highest selling vehicle outright in some markets, markets where the LC can't even outsell a Pajero.

Australia is Landcruisers largest market, despite our small population, more an indication of ingrained perceptions then a product comparison.

The Landcruiser is sub-par in comparison, and that's without taking into account the price difference.

Price difference is meaningless when the resale value is ridiculously high on LandCruisers.

Im with isra on this one. With how hard it is to pass emissions these days, the focus on crash safety etc, i reckon there is a good chance the 300 series could be monocoque.
Landrover did it with the disco recently, so i dont think its out of the relm of possibility. Especially if they are moving away from mechanically simple v8 engines into the TTV6.

Toyota wouldnt give a fuck about a small percentage of cunts upgrading gvm and shit.

You're looking at it from a regional view, globally it's a luxury vehicle. The majority of markets it's available in only off the VX/Sahara spec and position it just below the Lexus LX570.

Yeah but in a lot of markets the price jump up to a better car isn’t as great as here. There are few (if any) where they have a peerless stranglehold on the market. I’d be surprised if they will compromise that

Pretty sure Australia is one of the few countries to get a diesel cruiser too.

Wouldn't a big chunk of Landcruiser sales here be government or mining?

A chunk of the market comes from construction and mining. I cant go past a civil job or even commercial anywhere without seeing a fleet of Hiluxs and LC's. Then there's a decent percentage of people that use them for a company vehicle go out and buy one too for private use. Australia is a gold mine for Toyota
