There's an '01 C9-3 aero auto on carslaes for $1200 in Canberra. Guy has advertised it as an S, can't see anyone getting the proper aero body kit, wheels and interior on a shitbox S. I was going to low ball the guy but I've got no where to put it.

drove one before but not in anger. drives really nice actually. I reckon it looks good too.

but the last 4 months maybe I've been trying to find a 9-5 wagon aero.

needs to be silver, needs to be auto and needs to have klingon wheels.

otherwise I know of an enduro that might be up for sale.

One of my brother's mates has a 9-3 turbo wagon. He loves it, I keep telling he's mad and should have just bought a WRX. It seems to be reliable for him over a quite a number of years... will fit numerous olympic javelins in it.
As much as I give him shit about it I can see the appeal and well if you buy it dirt cheap, how bad can it be...

An old mate of mine ran a Saab workshop before his passing last year.

    You don't want a V6 one.

yeah a mate has had two as per buttonman's post

first was a 9-3 and was a huge steaming POS. blew the turbo then spun a balance shaft bearing all within a month or so of ownership

second one is a blue 9-5 wagon and he bought it pre-broken lol. did the timing chain and engine mounts and swapped in new bearings (just cos) and it seems to be ok now. it's a 2.3 turbo auto, with the aero turbo and intercooler on it. he is selling it for fuckall if you want to get into one which hopefully shouldnt explode anymore. he realised saabs are lame and bought a v8 soarer just like me. it also has the right wheels

    I had an 80 Turbo.
Plus side, very comfy, nice ride, great handling. Minus side, mechanically complex, weak gearbox, fucken expensive parts.

I would imagine a lot of parts for 80's cars would be getting rare now but I must admit the Wassabi did get my heart pumping a bit, great sleeper.

oh, the last thing, the drivers side lower wishbone eventually snaps at the inboard lugs, usually on full lock in reverse but I can't help thinking it could also happen when careening down a mountain pass at full noise :-(

Apparently the V6 is the worst V6 since the last Swedish one in the Ovlovs, for similar reasons. They eat themselves away from the inside out.

From mammary the 4 has it's origins with Triumph in the 70s, sort of like grandpa's axe though.

The early V6 is the same as the Vectra engine. Waste of time imho. It's also one of 2 engines to use a cambelt, e erything else is chain except for the Saabaru 9-2x. And to say the Saab 4 is related to the Triumph engine is a long blow to draw. Pretty much nothing interchanges, I've looked.

There's two v6's though and n/a pile of puss and then the V6 turbo in the 06 and turbo x cars, is that the one everyone is saying is shit? I don't recall there being a V6 turbo Vectra so is this a different Saab only motor?

Saab has upped the power output of the Australian-made, 2.8-litre turbo V6 that powers the XWD SportCombi and sedan models. Facelifted Aero front-drive models are restricted to 188kW, but the Aero XWD easily handles 206kW. This increase is achieved simply by upping turbo boost pressure from 0.5 bar to 0.8 bar.

You know what? I've changed my mind. I reckon get whatever the fuck you think will be a good thing for you.

I say this because I've got my eye on an Audi S4 that is overpriced and will hopefully still be for sale in a few months time when I am ready to buy and haggle. It's the V8 one. With the timing chain at the back. That is known to experience chain guide failures. And I want it just because.

The Saab 9000 CD and NG900 both used the Opel V6 used in the Vectra, complete with weird as fuck turbo setup on the 9000CD. That engine is a turd. The NG9-3, and NG9-5, used the Alloytec. The Saab versions are specifc to Saab iirc, not sure on the alloytec as my training stuff only went to 2001.

I know of that RS6 guy. He used to be my brother-in-laws boss. From what I understand he was a bit special when it comes to cars.

At least he's not asking about an NG900/C9-3 Convertible, those shit boxes would make you see sick with the scuttle shake. I've honestly never seen something like it, high milage NG900 convertible hit a rough patch on the road and you could see the dash wobble in a different direction than the seats were moving. Even a brand new C9-3 Convertible shook like a wet dog on hitting a rough patch, the senior Saab mechanic reckoned a Viggen Convertible would twist it self to the point it would induce REAR axle tramp if you gave it a boot full if grip was good.

And that is the car to get then Damo.......

Just keep adding boosts until it turns itself into a pretzil and back it off a touch.

That should provide plenty of entertainment for us all to watch.....

so if your serious, the b234 engines are good for 500bhp on stock internals. 450bhp is a flash tune, injectors and a turbo swap and a 3 inch exhaust, and a clutch when the stocker slips.. the flashes are easy, the usb to ecu cable is like 60 bucks. the software is free, and the tunes are free. find one thats had service history by a lunatic and your gold. the amount of v8 commos and xr6 turbos i chopped running 340bhp 550nm was hilarious.
