    Kinda want it, in an absurd way.
    Is it still scuttle shake when the whole car jiggles like an obese belly dancer? Fuck me they are loose, the Viggen was "better" but far from acceptable, let alone good. I'd always budget on the full Abbot brace kit on any NG900/C9-3 model, especially the ragtop.

    Fucken PF and the SAAB hate...you're all cunts...

    I've had my 9-5 Aero now for 10 years. Love it. Just had a DO88 FMIC & pipe kit, re-flash and a few more poly bushes installed. I love it. So smooth on the freeway, nice and docile around the city with a great lunge forward when pressed.

    Problems;
    The 5 speed autos die, I think its the shifter solenoid things. The SAAB workshop (Swedish Prestige) I go to said to get a 4 speed auto model for the stronger box. My missus still managed to fuck reverse though. By watching her take off every morning I think the daily roll back did the damage. The 5 speeds do look a little better and I know you can get bigger brakes than the 4 speed version (pre 01), something about the uprights changing on the post 01's.

    It stranded us once when a fuel pump died. I should've listened to the w'shop and replaced it at 130K Km.

    Bilsteins all round, H&R springs and slowly replacing all rubber with poly has really tightened it all up with no torque steer to bug you.

    I put a big Abbott Racing stainless exhaust on it. It was painfully loud in a wagon so I've replaced the centre muffler with a bigger job. Nice inoffensive burble now with a bit of whoosh.

    I've had a couple of little issues with AC system blend door motors coming out of sync. Easy fix though. Still fucking annoying..

    Lots of turbo failures were traced to oil. They need to have the latest update PCV system to stop them contaminating their oils. The yanks and poms benefited with their better consumer protection laws then what we did so the Au cars haven't all been updated.

    To continue the pain I've just bought this;

    Planning on quite a bit of work including turbo conversion, update the ECU to a later model, wheels, brakes etc. Biggest headache is gearbox parts so hopefully Ill find a work around...

    Going to be selling my black 2006 aero convertible 2.8 turbo which is the top of the line range shortly. Only done 57,000kms for around 11k if keen. Reason I'd let it go cheap is it had a hit on the rear quarter which Is all repaired and engineered. Still on WA rego but about to switch it across.

    Man, those both look awesome. I'd own a SAAB but one of the only guys I trust to work on them died a couple of years ago and I wouldn't want to look after one of these on my own!

    About the only tri spokes that haven't dated badly.

    And I still have a soft spot for these old jiggers. Would love to have one one day.

    It's the "I don't have enough money right now" way.
    I may already have a shopping list for it.

    I nearly bought that one but CBF in the end, if it was local I'd already have stripped it out and been doing hillclimbs

    Bump.

    Is there anything good/interesting/desirable about a NG900/9-3 five door with the 2.3 litre non-turbo engine?

    I'm thinking not because not turbo, not the classic shape, not coupe, no weird three spoke wheel action etc, and therefore if it wasn't a Saab and sort of quirky by association it would be no more interesting than a same era 626 or Bluebird. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Considering you've had a ZB Vectra, that's basically a poor man's SAAB.

    They're very roomy & very comfortable, a decent place to sit on a long trip or while stuck in traffic.
    I don't think they're any less reliable than the majority of Euros. No idea about current availability of bits.
    Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
