    Hk gts monaro project

Purchased this last week, a good starting point for a dream car of mine.

    My first muscle car

Factory colour code is silver mink with black interior. Lots of metal work to be done.

I hope to make a start at the end of the year if life throws me no curve balls in between.

Loved these as a kid favourite was silver mink then warwick yellow but were forever out of reach...ended up with smaller version lc gtr.

A mate has built a couple of them then sells & starts again...facebook & monaro clubs is where he chases parts etc.

Cheapest one he bought was a tired silver mink 186 gts for 15k.
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

    Thanks im real happy!
Prob will go stock in nearly every area will just add a larger cube sbc. Silver mink in my dream colour, but with red interior so yet to determine if it would be wise to deviate from the colour on the tags.
13.5k, needs a fair bit of metal work and has no interior or glass.

I think I remember seeing this for sale a while ago for a lot more money. Congrats.

My opinion on the interior, if you're doing it to sell then go via the tags, doing it for you then do it however the fuck you want.
Do not listen to anything this man says. They are insane, illogical thoughts propagated by us, the voices in his head.

They're a pretty simple car so far as you can pretty much restore the whole car and drop a decent motor/box/diff in and have fun with it, then replace it with the standard stuff if you ever wanted

Nice! Picardy Red with black interior and Silver Mink with red interior are my favourite combos in these cars.

That build looked awesome till he started welding the cage in....ruined. Why build the coolest pillarless car ever then fill it with scaffolding?

    Thanks everyone!

That bloke does some nice work by the looks of it. My uncle created his torana ute, it looked a heap better back then in a nice blue without the flares.

This is what im thinking, glide is factory, sbc parts are plentiful and cheap, built a decent engine for it and keep a matching numbers one in the corner of the shed.

If you ever feel bad about how rough your Monaro is, check out the "Mint Monaro" that Tim Johnston from J's Customs is building - https://www.facebook.com/mintmonaro/

Wow that's a bit of work there, mine will be 1/4 panels off as well.
Not 100% sure if same car, but not sure why he rebuilt the floor to factory but did custom sheetmetal engine bay.

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.

My Valiant's in the background of some of those photos. He did the full custom sheetmetal thing because that's what he does! Mine ended up mainly that way as well, it just sort of happens when you leave a car with him.

Tim's just up at Kureelpa if you want some contact details. You'd probably be waiting 2-3 years to get to primer though, he's too cheap!

This is my sig. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My sig is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My sig, without me, is useless. Without my sig, I am useless.
