That result is good but im greedy and wanted moar radiiiii. Enter the biggest bit i could find at the local hardware shop. R13mm. Hit the former and hit and hit at another annealed victim and got really good results. It did offer more resistance to the curvature than the previous rad but with more banging it came out spot on. This alloy when annealed is a big soft mess, quite impressive how it shrinks up. Hopefully it is still structurally strong enough to perform its end use task, otherwse i guess the boost will only increase the radius! Pics
    Versus the previous attempt

Damn that looks good. Going to paint it all factory type black or leave it nice and shiny? I can see both looking good. Also, similar shape on the other side of the tanks with a flat section between them?

Mr Mc Balls. you used "annealed 5005 3mm sheet over a chip board former", was this DIY annealing with a flame or 0 temper?

I tried diy with my mapp gas and a 350 celcius indicator crayon mcscribbler but i dunno if it was old stock but the damn thing left no crayon on the aluminium after a solid scribbling. I tried and failed so asked engineer to do for me. I believe if you have an oxy set, just blow some acetylene black smoke all over it then burn off smoke and dunk in water. Easy peasy

    Yeah, that's genius.

Or, draw a soap bar across it, heat till the soap goes brown, dunk in water.

Oh yep. And i learnt how to use those heat crayons. U draw them on after u heat. If they melt you above their rated temp.
Someone should do some actual hydroforming in this thread. [emoji2]

was just reading this trick to straighten bent alloy motorbike levers -although they recommended to leave it annealed - so would bend if dropped again

Ah, that makes sense. I thought you interpolated the curve with a standard cutting tip and 1 million passes / man hours. Wouldn't put it past a NZer!

Well yea of course mate it goes without saying. That was of course my first choice, with drugs here being so cheap, so few daylight hours, naturally the thing to do is avoid spending time with her indoors and avoid the constant drivvling australian cooking programs and spend hours doing that 😁
