It makes sense to me. Guys spend $5k on an SR conversion kit for an MX5, then you still need to buy the SR motor and all the associated bits. Spend half that throwing a turbo and bits at the factory motor and you will be way ahead in time and money for similiar powers. Plus like you said, it will be piss easy to sell when you want to offload it. Continue..

Got all the new shocks and springs in. Car sits a fraction lower.

Went for a cruise to Berwick to get some front wheels as well. Aircon works mint, although got a feeling a vac line has fallen off on 2 of the air distribution settings. So need to yank the dash apart at some stage

    Looks good.
God I "loved" the vacuum lines on the A/C system in my VH and VK, replaced all them on both cars with new hoses.

Stay sohc rb30, my vl ran 9.96 @ 137 mph. Low mounted gt3540 with a 20 year old autronic ecu. 507 rwhp on e85. Then upgraded to new 6 boost highmount manifold, gtw3884 and made 655 rwhp on stock rods. (36) pound. If i had upgraded to say a link ecu, it would of easily made 700 rwhp on the same boost level.

Can vouch for this car ^ , Although Matty, I'm not sure how you think the Link ECU will give you a 50hp increase over the Autronic, They are a bloody good thing regardless of age.

Finer tunning and slightly more accurate on higher boost. My ecu was only tunable to 32 pound boost, so id say if my model of autronic had better map sensor it would have made more power, i then chucked a dead stock s2 bottom end in with my head set up, made 503 rwhp on 26 pound. The new owner went to the link ecu and made 600 rwhp on the same boost with the same setup.

Would like 400-450 rwkw, so mid to deep 9s.

Just had a look, not bad prices, need to add a good oil pump into their prices. Good buddy owns Frankston engine so he will do it. Probably go na comp

Another buddy just ordered a Nismo billet stroker crank combo $8k for crank/rods/ pistons

Not sure how that can be anything other than the stalk. Never had an issue with mine that I can remember.

Edit: Actually I might have replaced mine with an aftermarket one, but I don't remember why. I think it wasn't cancelling indicators properly.

Could be melted wiring from fusebox or some kind of dodgey fix in that area as vk-vl were shockers for shit lighting or melting fusebox
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

Yeah usually it's the stalk, they die all the time.

I love the RB30, if it's just pure power to run 9's stick with it I'd say.
This build thread makes me think bad thoughts, very nice!!

I did build an RB25/30 for my old one, with all the variable cam timing stuff in-tact (and PowarFC), and that was probably the nicest street engine I've driven, highly recommended if it's going to be more cruiser, had torque for days, and stonking power at every RPM.
Still wish I never sold it, not even sure where it ended up.

Gone for a couple long cruises the last couple days. Really enjoy this car. Despite it not being the fastest or shiniest. Rb30 and jatco work so well together, always in the power range. New suspension rides not too bad either.

Done some homework and all new bumpers and side moulds, will set me back $~1200, then a decent amount for paint. Will have to wait a bit

Even after bleeding brakes, and the relatively new rotors/pads, it still stops pretty ordinary. Will upgrade to VT twin pistons, vs plastic master/booster and when 9" goes in convert to rear discs
