    Satin Black

Got a shitbox ZG Fairlane here that I'm keen to put some satin black on for summer cruising. It's stripped to bare metal.
What's the best satin black paint to use on it? Will etch primer and primer, would prefer something not in a rattle can and something that won't go chalky.
It's also got a cream vinyl roof so that's getting painted as well

I don't know shit about painting but the dude that paints shit for me sometimes gets real sad about the cheap enamel based flat black. Said when you go to sand it back off its real shit and loads up the paper flat out

Have a look at Protec 604 range. It's a cheap 2-pack and is available in premixed flat and satin black.

Nice old jigger as a base.

Trim looks to be in good nick, and the rear plastic lenses as well which is a bonus.

I would vote a respray in the original colour over satin black, but either way good to see another one of these saved.

It's one of those cars where the trim survived much better than the body. Has a bit of rust in it, more than I'm keen to tackle at the moment. It's had three or four paint jobs, bog straight over rust, heaps over filler where it wasn't needed. Runs sweet and cruises well, straight gas 2 x 80 litre tanks under there

Fuck I love the ZG LTD's.

I'm using cold zinc gal paint from Supercrap on the underbody bits. You don't need a primer and it flows nicely. Down side is it takes weeks to try properly.
