So someone forgot to tell my android that Christmas day is not a work day. And my chain of alarms got me up. So thought since I was sans kids i'd do some extra work. Was going to fit the bootwell trims but had to take the rear seats out to so so. And decided she needed a wash to clean out 33 years (and probably 10 of that with no interior) gathering dust and dirt.

    Before:

    After:

Also she got the most important thing.. A name.. From here out she shall be known as Tina. Because she's simply the best and hopefully she will have a set of lungs on her to match Tina so she can be heard screaming through some quads for miles.

Going to have to get some kill rust I to that bootwell before it gets any
    Worse..

Today was D-day.. also known as door day..

    Backs went on easy..

Fronts had an alignment issue. Clipped the guard. Figured I'd do the bumper and lights also then... Since I had to take the guard off anyways..

    Much better

Looks to have had a minor bump at the front at some point. Explains the 4ac labelled bonnet and the (once) yellow rhs quarter

Donor looking a little empty.. Had a few guys want some parts off me too. Good to help out some fellow enthusiasts.

Late additions. Didn't realise I'd not got a finished pic and then it was too dark. Today is a new day. Door trims not swapped back yet but here is how she sits today.

Drivers door was good. And door on donor had been broken into so had some damage around locks. So I left that one alone. I was also expecting to move the twincam strips (which are the larger, lower sitting ones) over at some point too..

Swapping the ignition out attempted today. Turns out racer that put in the switch panel for ignition cut the steering lock and barrel off with a grinder or hacksaw..

Pulled the whole shebang out of the donor but ran into a problem.

Turns out twincam has height adjust but donor doesn't and that is built into this assembly. No Problem, just inbolt the lock mechanism you say and swap them over.. well unfortunately me Toyota is one step ahead of you there. That's bolted on with one of the bolts being headless...

Anyone have any clue how these come off without a grinder and work?

Turns out a pair of pliers was all it needed to take the donor off.. hopefully the racer is easier.

Oh, and bonus while playing around under the dash, found these 140w 3 way don't explodes in the donor..

Hopefully the next lot come out easily too, but if not, this method normally works for me.

Then you can use normal bolts to put it back together nice and tight.

    And we have ignition.

Unfortunately I seem to have picked up a miss. Think I got water in somewhere while I was cleaning the engine bay over Christmas. Also I've got a fuel leak from one of the injectors... things to tinker with.

While I was playing with dashes, I swapped the switchgear over.

For sure. Could have snapped up the doors, but at $77 each, I can get the stickers made up I think. Motor looked good. Had 330k on clock so I assume motor must have been replaced or reco'd at some point to look that good. Could've spent lots buying everything in it. Had a decent stereo system in it I think. There were a pair of quality looking pioneer crossovers hidden behind the dash.

Went out on the weekend to have a look at a set of wheels for her at a wrecker. Unfortunately they were gone already. While I was there, I popped back to the one I got the interior from and discovered to my surprise I had missed the exhaust system that was on it. So, grabbed this set of extractors.

And the cam covers were too good to leave behind. Shpuld clean up nicely.

Also, while I was snapping pics of other 82s laying around, I photographed this one..

Had some (once upon time) nice brakes.. but they looked passed their due sadly.

But the thing the boys on the owners forum lit up about was the front lip spoiler.. Apparently some rare DOHA Toyota factory lip or something that everyone was interested in. And there was talk that someone should save it and making fibreglass copies for the good of all 82 owners.

So, me working in a company that specialises in fibreglass, I figured it was only right I went back and grabbed it.

Needs a bit of work to clean it up, but going to give it a go. Good practice for the eventual carbon fibre guards and bonnet..

Good one on the rare parts. Wasn't there a speed sensor in one? It was it a polariser? /I

Spotted a bloke posting in 82 owners group that was sending his shell to the crushers having nabbed the engine only out of it (for a big turbocharged build in his ke20). Rushed over to grab the wheels off it and some panels for spares..

Wheels were painted black by the previous owner when they used it as a paddock basher.. But hopefully a but of paint stripper and they will clean up fine.

ALSO grabbed a few interior parts that tend to break on these easily.

A dash top that's still in one piece is a pretty good score.

    #corollawreckers anonymous.

This thing might turn into a good car.

Did you get the door trims too? Or are yours already good?
