It's no rocket ship up hills, that's for sure. I'm sure big climbs will be slow but don't care

Not putting a header board on it. At the moment I have two 1000kg chains at the front and a single strap at the back V'd over the sway bar. Going to add a safety chain at the back to the chassis not the tray

Doing the lights, reflectors and ramps at the moment

Run wheel basket straps. Easier, safer and less likely to damage the car.

might be worth making up some wheel wedges for the front wheels (bolt on) just to make lone-loading it a bit easier.

Towed the rolla to the wsid yesterday. Just under 500km round trip. Sits on 95 like a boss. The concrete block sections of freeway suck tho and down to 70 up the two or three big hills.

Need to get the rear brake lines done neater and vacuum bleed the brakes as I can't seem to get a one pump pedal. Also rocker cover gasket needs doing. The play in the steering also needs addressing as it takes a bit of concentration to constantly correct. Might see if I can get some new/Reco front springs as they have sagged

First gear is ideal for Sydney traffic.

Muffler hit on reloading the car so need to address that. Paint tray and fit the clearance lights (I did the reflectors)

I was going to mount the ramps under the centre but seems easier (to get in/out) to just strap them to the tray between the wheelbase. Want to add a second battery, fridge, 4wd compressor and winch.

    Added paint and clearance lights

Was going to do the whole thing in charcoal but decided to do the sides in white as it'll be easier to see

A properly secured ADR spec fuel tank under a chassis vs all the 44 gallon drums ratchet strapped down to flatbed trays everywhere,

I know which one I would pick.

I'd just worry that you would have some sort of dickhead try and argue that it was not an approved fuel carrying container - or not vented correctly, or some stupid shit - could also be argued that a neat jerry-rack in the same place would be more convenient.

some events also require you to refuel in a specific place etc..

It will probably never be an issue - totally agree - just something about it feels like some cunt might take issue.

If someone did I think they'd be the sort of person who made their own sheriffs badge out of cardboard and dealing with it would be no harder than telling them to fuck off

That'd have to be one bad day as one tank would be set up with a fuel pump/hose to fill the rolla and the other would be plumbed up to my diesel truck. Much more likely to accidentally fill the e85 tank with diesel at a servo.

I'll keep an eye out for those badasses

Went looking at winches today. Might try an atv winch, they're rated at 4000lbs, light, small and not too dear

Got some tube for crush washers for the driveshaft mount and some longer tailshaft bolts so I can fit spring washers

    Also today's impulse purchase

Brings the total up to $5,000

Yeah, supercrap has 9500lb ones at 50% off (so $367)

Going to try a 4500lb atv one for $170. Warn reckons you multiply vehicle weight by 1.5 which comes out at 3900lb. I'll shorten the lead to keep it close to the drum at maximum load. I've watched a few vids of people loading cars with 2500-4500lb one and think it'll be fine for the rare occasion I need it

If you run the cable through a snatchblock/pulley block you effectively half the load.

I've got a 4500lb one on my trailer and it hasn't missed a beat, even when hauling dead cars out of paddocks on half flat tyres.

Anything wider than a Datsun 1200 needs to go over the guards on my trailer so it makes the winch work.
Ban low performance drivers not high performance cars
