    SA - FS EP3 Civic Type R economic writeoff, repair/track car/engine donor

EP3 Civic Type R Economic writeoff, suitable for K20A engine swap donor or race car build.

Car has ~135,000km on odometer and made 135 fwkw at a dyno day a couple of months before it was written off, drove well and was maintained by a Honda specialist.

No driveline or crash damage, vehicle was written off after someone smashed a rear quarter window and put lit bbq firelighters on the back seat. The fire was extinguished before it got any further than burning the rear seat and the backs of the front seats, but the rooflining and most interior plastics above seat-base height were melted or warped. Windscreen cracked from heat and the roof directly above the fire got hot enough to burn paint off and possibly slightly warped.

Ran fine when delivered back from the assessment yard, I drove it off the truck and into my courtyard (late 2013) and alarm/locks/engine worked fine when I put a battery in it a year ago to check it still started.

Mechanically I believe its all as standard aside from a new exhaust from Exhaust Technology (suuuuper loud and probably why a neighbour vandalized it), stock CTR suspension and brakes. Left headlight is missing.

I originally planned to get it back on the road as it wasn't a statutory write-off but sourcing a full interior was beyond what I had time and money to do, and then looked at using the driveline in another Honda but I just haven't had the space to do it and have too many other projects.

$5k, just want it gone so I have room to bring my MX5 home

Yeah that was my problem too, I realised I don't know enough either haha

I've seen a few people say they've done a swap into EG's and EK's in a weekend or two but I've got a feeling they may not be newcomers to fwd

Hey guys just to help, i had a kswap EK back when i was in ireland and its pretty straight forward if you have all the kswap parts needed. (Conversion harness, engine mounts, kswap driveshafts etc) hybrid racing and hasport are the most popular companies that make these.

You can do it cheaper and modify everything yourself (cutting and welding mounts etc) but its not as clean and tidy as using the ready made conversion stuff.

You will also need a kswap exhaust manifold as the standard k20 one wont fit in the del sol. Id also recommened getting a Hondata ecu over the ep3 one.

I have a full build thread of mine on another forum although its not much use since photobucket blocked everyones pics.

If your interested i can write you up a full list of what you need when i get a minute.

Might be an idea to advertise this on the IPRA forum. Perfect basis for a race car.

Its cheap for a JDM K20 & box really, let alone all the other shit attached. Put on Honda FB groups, will get snapped up super quick

Doesn't look like EP3's are on the IPRA list of approved grey imports, pity, it'd be great for something like that
