    Ve V8 diff gears

    So I've got a caprice hire car and it scoots pretty good. It's much livelier than my ve ssv. Do they have shorter diff gears maybe? Google tells me they both have the same transmission.
    If the difference is the diff gears how do I get the shorter ones?

    3.4s are the go for the autos. Anything shorter makes 1st gear gay

    Thought all base 270ish kw auto holden L98s were 2.92.

    Looking in to this for my purposes, the entire diff assembly with steeper gears pop up on fleabay all the time, cheapest I've seen was ca. $300.

    Was thinking about it but will pbly cough up for god damn trutrac before long.

    3.7's will launch hard but maybe a bit much for a daily, plus first gear is almost pointless - 3.45's seem a better choice. Try to find a set out of a low km car (any of the manual V8's) that someone has pulled out to go 3.7's...

    Muz your PCM tells me you drive like a bitch. PCM will adjust shift patterns and control torque based on driving style they have been doing this since the VR.

    Also I'm not 100% because I have not done a course on the modern 6l80e but I think they have two sensors that can sense torque via how much twist is on the shaft in the gear bag.

    In my Maloo they have 3.23 from hsv, I went to 3.7 and I think they are motive gears I got them from 1320 on here.

    Not that cheap, gears cost fuck all but I put in a Harrop Tru track and new bearing and shim kit and ended up at about 2500ish all done.

    Drives fine on the highway.
