The asian bogan... or bogan asian torana

sooooo I'm visiting my parents next year and I realized I dont have any aussie muscle cars over there so had a look online and found this.

original LHD GM delivered Torana. currently has a pissy 1900cc opel 4 cyl in it. I knwo GM had a few of these released as rally cars in asia. I believe this would have been one of them hence the cage.

I kind of just want to bring a v8 motor home (308/55/83) of some sort. high stall and a good diff. just so when I go home I can skid the shit out of it and not go to jail. haha

or I could keep it as it is as it was probably built like that and has some history but I cbf chasing any history on it. I just want to drive to a police station and lay a set lol

Well originally I had planned on putting some v8 into a corolla or something but this would probably be a nicer thing to do stupid shit in

HA and HB are shorter. They were the aus delivered 4 cyl and have a visibly different nose. This looks like a normal one but I'm not a Torana wizard. Being left hand drive exhaust could be a problem

Actually LJ/LC are shit for pipes anyway. 6 would be easy option and save from instant diff explosion

This is ridiculously cool, and surely must be worth some dollars here in Aus given the shared heritage? I know the South African GMH/Chev cars are not worth as much as their genuine Aussie counterparts but are still sky rocketing in value because they are essentially the same as ours but lots cheaper.

A little 283 chev might be a good fit for this if you must go v8, quite compact, good note and still GM family.

All SBCs are the same external dimensions and 283 is just a nugget that's harder to get parts for. Holden V8 is actually nicer because exhaust port angles down. Chevs go straight out.

Extractors and steering will be where you have issues because everything is on the wrong side. Might be easier with Chev and up and over style pipes that go out through the inner guards.

And it probably has a banjo diff so that cunt will explode with any kind of power.

A stoke stroke 308, built trimatic/t350 with plenty of stall and 4.xx gears would be a good time for pretty cheap

In case Iíve missed it where is the motherland?

Holden 8 would be cool but and RB might be a easier option, with wooshka too. ( I feel dirty suggesting that )

Well that's just cool as fuck, didn't even know they existed, that rally heritage is interesting, SBC has a narrower "V" than the 253/308, would be an easier fit, but saying that, you can buy everything off the shelf to fit 308 etc anyway, unsure with left hook thing though, may foul brake booster/steering maybe?

    They're both 90* v8s?

But not many here or in the Philippines.

SBC if it fits, bits are easy to get anywhere. The Holden stuff, I doubt you would find anyone who has Holden bits, let alone know what a Holden is....

That body would only be on a 6cyl version in Australia. They had basically HB front ends on the 4cyl ones (like 4cyl LC's, TA's, etc.) but that may not apply in these other markets.

Car is actually kinda cool as it sits, IMO
