    Toyota Century V12: RIP

GZG50 has been discontinued after a 20 year run. New model coming out, but it has an inferior V8 engine. Like some sort of peasant car.

    https://www.carthrottle.com/post/the...er-and-no-v12/

I don't mind the look of the new one, but they're definitely not shy about being "inspired" by RR. In fairness the V8 looks like it will be a good thing, but it's just not the same.

    So opulent!

I want one. But probably wouldn't be prepared to pay more than about $50k for one, so it's a moot point.

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.

Do the front seats still go down flat so the whole interior is like a bed?

    Norbie has the only one.

The ones for sale are all the old 4V 1980s models.

I think they will be eligible for import under the new rules though...

Hybrid 2UR for this one will be a big jump in power if its the Lexus system.... 330kw?

The countries that would be the major market has such shit traffic that you are lucky to go more than 30km/h for more than 100m.

Doesn't the centre of the front seat fold down though, so you can poke your feet through?
I think it does on Norbie's ... Norbie, am I FOS again?

Probably just the way Sir likes it!
Reminiscent of when Sir was growing-up in the 60's ...
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Iron Chef dude on FB reckons they'll start coming in circa 2019. To which I say boo hiss! You just know some mong is going to get one and chop off the roof and fit gay wheels.

Every Century since 1967 has looked "horribly dated", it's how they're meant to be. If sir would prefer modern styling, the Lexus dealership is that way.

99% of these things will be sold in Japan where leather isn't popular. The all wool interior of this thing is considered more luxurious, but I'm certain leather will be an option. My GZG50 has it (and it's very high quality leather too) but I've never seen another one for sale with leather.

Yes, mine has it as does the older VG40's. I've seen a photo which shows the new model has it as well.

Nice, I like it... though when I read the thread title I was having kittens

Also, as usual Norbie, this is my reminder that I'm still #1 on your list to sell to!

I still can't bring myself to sell the rusty RA23 Celica I bought in 1995, so the chances of letting go of the Century are pretty slim! But I'll let you know.

Yeah, but notice the leather doesn't smell? Apparently the smell of leather is found to be offensive, hence I can't think of a leather JDM car where I've noticed the smell of leather.

US market is the same, the leather is so heavily treated it's almost vinyl.
In the same vein, the absolute top spec Cadillac, Lincoln and Imperials all had cloth trim instead of leather.

That's because Cheap Shit though ... US expects Don't Pay Full Price, so US spec "leather" is pretty-much vinyl.

Nope, even on upper level cars the leather was rubbish.
