    Chassis welding advice

    Morning gents,

A work mate has a ml Triton, you know, the ones that snap chassis.
Enev though his is still fine, it does concern him that it will eventually snap and he's asked if I could weld on of those plate kits.

Now, I'm no stranger to welding and fabrication. But I've never done any chassis type efforts like this. My concern is it twisting due to the heat etc.

Do any of you real welders have any advice in regards to dealing with potential twisting and warping, or can I just slap this shit on there and happy days?

    Cheers, calum.

If it was me I'd just slap em on, but not with birdshit, when prepping the rail use a flapdisc and not a grinding disc.

weld through primer and 50mm stitch welds cover with body deadener when done.

Dont forget to disconnect the battery !

Re. twisting and warping; The end of a weld shrinks more than the start, so plan a weld procedure that will work on both sides. If it's front to back / bottom to top on the right, then the same on the left will (should) at least make the distorion equal.

    *I'm not a welder.
