    2018 Bathurst 12 hour

I Didn't see a thread for this yet, so thought that I would start one here with the update from the Daytona sportscars team...

    Update on preparations.

We have finally trimmed down our driver selection list to 6 drivers for the 3 remaining seats.

Of the 6 drivers, 2 from Victoria, one from NSW, one from QLD and one from WA.

We have specifically selected the high end local racers, even though we did have options on some more experienced racers.

We have a test day booked for the 23rd of November at Phillip Island, and each driver will get 2 X 10 minutes sessions in each of the 2 cars.
From this day, the final 3 drivers will be selected. Looking at the list of drivers, I cannot really tell who is going to be selected. Each of the drivers has their own strengths, so it will be a difficult day.

The Daytona engine for the test day will be an older 7 litre, as the race engine is still being assembled.
The Viper will run the same 8.4 litre V10 through the test and the 12 hour itself, as we are still well under the engine's rebuild hours.

The crew for this years event is still to be confirmed, so there is still plenty to do. One of the main things I have to do is to design the team (and possibly retail) shirts for the event. The team shirts will need to show both the cars and some sort of catch line for the event.

    any suggestions? something like this.
Where 6 litres is just not enough

Anyhow, the hard work is just starting, the preparations are in full swing...

Good luck with it all Jamie, plenty of hard work and late nights ahead I'm sure. Shaping up to be another quality field, hopefully you get the results you're after at the end of it all. Will be great to see both cars out there.

How about "it takes 2 cars and 14.4 litres to go 12 hours" or "Daytona Sports Cars - amateur racing at its very best" or "Viper + Daytona = Cubic Fun" or "Team Daytona = 612kph" (or whatever the combined total is ...........

I can go on if you want !!

    Good luck anyway

I dearly wanted to be considered for this awesome opportunity, but life is in the way this time around. Hope it all goes well for you guys.

It would have been good to have to show your stuff on the test day, and have a shot at the final team, but not to be this year.

The test day should be interesting. I am keen to see how the guys we selected go. I really hope no one throws the car off the road.

Nothing up to date. Been a few driver announcements since the entrylist below was sent out.

This is about as close. https://www.speedcafe.com/2017/12/15...18-entry-list/

Expect more announcements on drivers in the next week or so.

Got my car passes for the campground today. Bit later then last year but still in time thankfully. I’ll be in Paddock this year.

Missed this earlier. If you're still chasing shirts hit up Harmo at Liquid Clothing Co. He's based in Wollongong but ships everywhere, even OS now. Has started doing work for Supertaxi teams now, as well as a heap of lower budget teams. Tell him Boppa sent you and he'll look after you on price...

Disappointed that there won't be a Fezza or GT-R in the field, but still a world class field. Should be another great race.

Wow, so I get an invite to the Ferrari lounge thing but no Ferraris in the field. Must be the Pirelli/Ferrari tie up playing out.

Indeed. Mr Pussywagon and John Martin should be quick from the get go and Liam Talbot is a damn good am driver.

Someone should sit down and talk shit with Griffiths and DR and film it, those two are characters so would be quite entertaining.
