VW golf electric handbrake and changing pads

    hi

am looking at changing my rear pads and disc's on my golf gti with electric rear parking brake.

has anyone out there tried the manual method, ie removing the servo and winding the adjuster back, and if so what issues did you encounter.
    see youtube link below.

otherwise I will have to buy the software and cable for the VCDS (which is proving a pain to find for the mk7 at a reasonable cost).

    regards

That bob vagene cunt can prob answer better but personally I wouldn't try it without using the scan tool to put it in service mode, retracting the piston or whatever. People may have had success manually doing it but seems a bit of a risk.
Don't know any mechanics who could help you out with a decent scan tool?

Yeah, my Autel will do it.

Don't do the manual wind-back. It still needs to re-learn the end positions.
