    2012 Toyota 86 GTS

Not too confident of the chances of a sale on here given they're now the old hotness, but if anyone is after one for their nopics or P-plater this is probably one of the better ones.

It's a late 2012 (November) build so comes without the crappy rear wing the later ones did. Otherwise standard GTS stuff - so heated seats that don't look like they came out of an early 90's Commodore and the better brakes are the main advantage.

    The good bits:
    - Wedssport TC105N 17x8 wheels (6.75kg) so decent lightweight and not stupid offset or diameter.
    - Newish Nitto Invo tyres.
    - MCA Blues - set up about as soft as they're comfortable doing. Rides comparable to if not better than stock.
    - Opticoat paint protection from new and parked indoors at work at home.
    - Toyota serviced up until the 90,000km service, which was done by John French Motors ($1800 through Toyota vs $1100 independent).
    - 68,400km odd, which is a bit below average. Lots of it highway.
    - No track use, never crashed.

    The bad bits:
    - It's an 86.
    - Some scratches on the rear bumper from a poorly installed garage door (long story).
    - One of the wheel centre caps was crushed by my local Toyota dealer generally being fuckwits.
    - It has a couple of the standard rear parcel shelf rattles. Apparently 100% caused by the coilovers according to Toyota (they all do this).

Looking for somewhere around $19k with RWC (special PF price). Stock wheels and suspension included, as well as one of the boot mats that lets you carry a spare (unopened).

Located Coorparoo, QLD. PM here is best contact.

If you end up having to trade it. Let me know, would be keen to throw you an offer on the wheels, and maybe coilovers if I have any cash left after my bathroom reno.

If it comes to that I'll let you know. My 140i is still off Capetown so I have a few weeks to try selling at an inflated price on Carsales.

Mint car man. I reckon you'll find the right buyer given the condition and subtle mods.

I didn't realise 86's had become so cheap. Nice car, i'd get shot by the missus if i bought one of these as well though...

Thanks guys. It's probably worth more like $21k but I prefer to try selling on here first.

Plus my last two dailies were euro, so I think 50% resale at five years is awesome!

I like that. They badly need wheels and suspension stock and that combo nailed it.

How long will it take to put my 2J driveline in this? You install for free?

I would actually like to do that conversion, but by the time I'd finish, combustion engines will be banned.

Sold. I think I might have underpriced it slightly. At least I didn't have to deal with Gumtree folk!

I'll be the idiot driving a 30 year old MR2 to work for two or three weeks.

Dang, solid work! I just listed my 86 on Carsales and have left a 2k margin for negotiations. Did you sell via Carsales?

Nope, on here. Carsales estimated $21,100 as a sales price but I didn't really want to muck around. I think a lot of the cheaper options on there may be dodgier than they look though.

The funds will be allocated among project cars as they progress! The MR2's gearbox is still a work in progress, plus I need it to get to work (as the Mini would probably spontaneously combust at the thought of being a daily driver).

If I had any sense I'd sell the Mini, the Mr2 and the Valiant and buy an Exige and an M3.

But I don't, so I'm spending the same amount of money making the Mini as fast as a Yaris, the Valiant as fast as an M3 and the MR2 as fast as an Exige. All will kill me and/or break.

Thanks for the information. I'll probably follow in your footsteps and price a bit lower in a week or two (or, if anyone in Sydney wants an 86 for PF price PM me)
Enjoy the M140i when it arrives!

I was just thinking I needed something older, less comfortable and less reliable to get to work for the next fortnight.

Funnily enough, due to a combination of poor life decisions I ended up having to take the Mini on the nursing home rounds today. Fuck that was unpleasant.

Having said that I'd be up for a temporary swap one day - I've never actually driven a rotary!

So this finally left today. I'd like to say I'll miss it but the battery died and needed to be replaced in my last week of ownership, so fuck it.

I have the choice of two cars with no air conditioning and semi-slicks for the next two weeks, the BMW is still sailing past Woolongong.
