    Carby issues

I've an annoying issue that stemmed from shut in the fuel ....I think.

Float bowl won't keep up...drains after 30 seconds or so.

Fuel pump is fine. New filter. Fuel lines blown out but still tested from a stand alone tank and still have this issue.

Replaced carby and still the same problem.....ran sweet for maybe a minute before the stutter and die started.

You can see the bowl level drop but just run the pump with the engine off and it will fill fine?

I've put a whole can of carby cleaner thru it....can enough fine shit get past the filter to mess with the floats?

I'm sure it's a simple fix as runs sweet for that few seconds....driving me nuts 😕

Electric fuel pump? Is the pump only running when keys is in start position and shutting off when returned to the on position?

Can you break up your issues into bullet points a bit more. I'm struggling to understand the issue.

Simply put the fuel bowl draws down when running until it splutters and dies. Only started after the tank was be,ted back into place so pretty sure I've dislodged A bunch of shit. Everything replaced and fuel supply is good.

Guessing something has still found its way into the carby.

Fuel bowl will fill fine if the car isn't running but can't keep up if it is?

Ok cool. Have you checked fuel flow into an open jar?
Or you have a blocked needle?

Has this engine/carb combination worked in the past?

Could be some sort of harmonic with the float...

Yup....ran sweet for a minute or so then picked up a slight miss and within another minute splutter die and same low fuel bowl level.

Fuel flow from pump is fine. I tried pumping from a separate container and same issue so flow from tank is not the problem.

What gets past a filter but still clogs the fuel bowl needle?

Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Is there anything you swapped between the two carbs? Like an inlet fitting that might have a gauze filter in it?

Nah, it's just barbed inlet and outlets so I just plugged the hoses on....they are different sizes so they are in the right order.

Like I said, new carby ran fine then died too......looking at the fuel it's quite brown....I'll chuck some fresh stuff in but something has passed into the carby I'm sure...well sureish

Does it have a fine screen in the banjo at the needle/seat?

Once had an issue with one of those carbs on a Stout - wouldn't idle, would only run at full noise, and even then it was badly.
Turned out the main jet had backed out and was sitting in the bottom of the bowl.

Is the tank vent blocked? A minute seems to be a bit quick for a tank vent issue but maybe worth checking.

Had that thought and that did kind of help.....briefly...like it ran an extra 19 seconds lol....probably made the pumps job easier and helped it pump past the blockage?

I should have some time this arvo to start pulling it to bits....hopefully I don't have to delve to deep into the damn thing
